Chapter 55: Rendezvous

Start from the beginning

"Tu m'as manqué! (I've missed you!)" She said with her cracky voice and tears attempting to fall.

They pulled away and the tears that this woman tried to restrain failed. Levi chuckles and wiped the woman's tears with his thumb and spoke in their native language.

"Mère, arrête de pleurer. Nous ne nous sommes pas vus depuis plus de trois ans et demi. (Mom, stop crying. We just didn't see each other for over three years and a half.)" Levi submitted.

"Quelle?! (What?!)" She playfully smacked Levi on the chest. " C'est juste pour toi! Regardez à quel point vous avez grandi! Je parie que tu ne m'as pas manqué!
(It's just for you! Just look how much you've grown! I bet you didn't missed me!)"

I heard Levi chuckled. "Ce n'est pas comme ça ... Ce que je veux dire c'est que tu devrais être heureux que je sois ici et pas un gâchis qui pleure
(It's not like that... What I mean is that you should be happy that I'm here and not a crying mess.)"

The woman smiles and laughs then. "C'est vrai, je suis désolé
(That's right, I'm sorry)" after that, she turns to me and back at Levi. "Quoi qu'il en soit, qui est cette belle fille? Dites-moi, est-elle votre petite amie?
(Anyway, who is this beautiful girl? Tell me, is she your girlfriend?)"

I saw her crossed armed and smirked at Levi. I do have wonders what are they talking about. Why did she crossed her arms, doesn't she like me?

Well- If only I could understand French that much.

"Maman, je veux que tu rencontres (y/n) (Mom, I want you to meet (y/n)." Levi held me back by my waist after hearing him pronounce my name. "Et s'il vous plaît, parlez anglais. Elle ne comprend pas beaucoup le français.
(And please, speak in English. She doesn't understand much of French.)"

"Bien sûr, vous êtes dummy.
(Of course, you dummy.)" She elbowed Levi and chuckled.

"Hi, (y/n). I'm Kuchel Ackerman, Levi's mother." Kuchel smiled brightly and she seemed so nice by the way she acts.

Especially when she showrd me a warm welcoming cheek greeting and hugged me gently.

"Hello, Mrs. Ackerman." I gave her my best smile but didn't showed much of my nervousness. "It's nice to meet you."

She pulled away from the hug and touched my chin softly. "Are you my son's girlfriend?"

My cheeks flushed red after hearing her question. "Y-yes..."

"Aw, you're way too gorgeous. Levi was lucky of you." Kuchel smiles sincerely. "Tell me when my social awkward son broke your heart, okay?"

I laughed nervously. "Y-yeah... sure."

She sure have plenty of knowledge about Levi's well-being, huh?

Yeah of course she's his mother, dummy.

"Now let's get inside and I'll make you guys some tea." She stepped back to let us enter inside. "We have so much to talk about."

Seriously, if Kuchel didn't introduced herself to me. I would've been jealous from how close she and Levi were.

We entered their house and it was different from what I thought lately. I was so dumb.

Their house had antique furnitures that was unique, Levi and I sat across another red couch as Kuchel left for the tea.

"I can't imagine you Levi that Kuchel was your mother." I stated, lowering my voice a bit.

"What? Why?" He asks, wrapping an arm on my shoulder as he leaned his back on thr comfortable couch.

"You've got a lot of differences in terms of attitude." I chuckled.

He rolls his eyes. "Seriously, (y/n)?"

"Dead serious."

After that small teasing. Kuchel came back with three cups of Levi's usual beverage. Black tea.

I grabbed mine and sipped before Kuchel started asking few things.

"How old were you guys have been together?" She asks after drinking her tea.

"Two years. But we'll be celebrating our third year the day after tomorrow." Levi answered.

"Ah, I see..." she puts her cup down.

Silence struck the room but it was immediately broken when Levi phone rang.

"Excuse me, ladies." He stood up and went somewhere.

I was left alone with Kuchel in the living room so it was her chance to ask me.

"(Y/n)...." she crossed her legs. Her wavy raven hair, flowed through her back. "How did you and Levi met?"

It was an interesting question to answer with thr weird and awkward truth. But I have to.state the fact to earn his mother's trust. Of course, we also have to work on it especially when boys like Levi was being spoiled by their mother.

That's what I know?

"Uhh..."

I was actually gonna answer it completely when Levi begin the story after telling me...

"Just ride on the conversation." He whispers to my ear.

"Actually... we met as neighbors." I grinned at Kuchel.

"Yeah and she was drunk the first time I saw her." Levi.continued and even recalled my epic impression. "She had a high alcohol tolerance after that-"

"N-no!" I chuckled nervously while covering Levi's mouth with my hand. "I-It was just a coincidence- because... I'd became independent that time and me and my friends had a small reunion."

Kuchel laughed at us and spoke. "It's fine dear. Anyway, I bet that Levi can't resist his temper? How come you two got close?"

We continued on telling her mother our crappy~epic love story. Sure, it was too different from typical couples who just met by the high school and then started dating after school because we're not.

"I can't believe my one and only son fell for a unique girl." Kuchel smiled at me and so did I.

'I didn't know how these Ackermans got the guts to flatter me so much'

"Maybe I did," Levi answered. "But the outcome of our tragic story and shitty treatment was this."

He intertwined his hands into mine and showed it to his mother.

"I always thought you'd become a gentleman to a woman other than me." Kuchel was amused at him. "I'm so proud of you."

Getting to know her wasn't hard. I can also tell how sweet she is towards her son. They're very close, while Kenny, Levi's uncle... well- he's attitude was no far from Levi's. Actually, they're even. But as much as Kuchel and Levi was close is also the way Kenny and Levi were.

While were in the middle of our chats, I've learned that Levi wasn't home for more than three years that is why his family was so happy that he's back. Even though it wasn't that visible on Kenny's face, I can feel things going smoothly.

I'm just so glad that I've met them. At least I'm getting welcomed to his family.
