Turning my attention away from the dog and onto his face I was ready to retort with some, as my mom would say 'colorful language', before I saw the look on his face. His gaze had gone hard and he looked ready to kill someone. I couldn’t help but flinch back at his look. Noticing my reaction he just took off into house.

“Well that was rude. Jerk!” Knowing he wouldn’t see me I still flipped him off. And to top it off I still have to figure out a way to get home before Ester or Luke came looking for me.

Somehow I managed to get home without passing out but I was still dead tired. Luckily no one was around when I walked into the house

I went upstairs to my room, grabbed some clothes, and went into the restroom to take a shower. Ten minutes later, I was out, all dressed and my hair neatly tied up in a ponytail.

I went downstairs and grabbed a bowl of cereal to eat. Jake was already at the table eating his cheerios.

“Hey sis, why’d you take so long running? Aren’t you usually back by seven?” Jake asked with a mouthful of cheerios.

“Seriously Jake, chew before you speak. It's gross enough having to see your chewed food but having to deal with it being spit everywhere is just plain nasty.” I said wiping pieces of chewed cheerios off my shoulder.

“Yeah yeah, whatever. Just answer my question before I spit it in your food.” He said rolling his eyes .

Not being the first time he threatened me and ended up with his chewed up spit in my food I decided to answer him, “You know that ratty old house a couple blocks away from here? Well somebody actually bought it.”

“No way! My friends say that house is haunted and that’s why nobody’s bought it. Is it true Sam? Is it really haunted and filled with ghost?” The glazed look in his eyes as he asked me was just so adorable. Jake loved anything to do with the paranormal. He may only be 9 years old but he knew more about ghosts than anyone I knew.

“Maybe it’s a group of ghost investigators. You think they’ll let me join their investigation? I sure hope so. I’d love to see a real ghost!” For the rest of the morning Jake went on about how ghost really exist and that one day he’d be the first to catch one and show the world.

He was a dreamer but I loved the kid to death, though he could be really annoying at times, making me to think that this kid would actually be the reason I die or kill myself.

I heard the front door open and slam shut, and then open again before a pair of voices shouted out, “Take care kids. We’ll see you after work.” Ester made a kissing sound before finally shutting the door shut again.

They seemed to always be running late to work, but I guess it added to their charm. A late parent means that you’re allowed to be late too and they couldn’t say anything. I mean they were the ones supposed to be setting the example. We just follow.

So with the house to ourselves we sat on the couch and watched nothing but re-runs of Ghost Adventures. Unfortunately Jake had beat me to the control but I was still too tired to even try and fight for it so I just had to deal with watching people try and scare themselves.

I’m pretty sure somewhere in between the shows I fell asleep and darkness consumed me.

Candle by candle was being lit illuminating a large room. No, this wasn’t just a room, it was a ballroom. It was so grand that hundreds, maybe even thousands, could fit in here.

Butlers and maids started filling the room with tables and chairs, topping them with silk satin covers varying from colors of burgundy, sapphire, emerald, and lavender. Then they topped it with a vase of black and white roses.

They soon began bringing large plates of food in and placing it on a long table.

A small orchestra strolled into the ballroom and began setting up, tuning their instruments and playing bits of music.

A group of girls entered through the side of the room and where slightly hidden by a large pillar. They were dressed in plump dresses of different hues. The girls looked like porcelain dolls with their flawless skin, long silky blonde hair and dark eyes that seemed to glisten even in the dark shadows.

They circled around each other holding back squeals and laughter, pointing at specific plate settings and squealing even louder.

A tall elderly woman soon came in and ushered the young ladies out. Before following them she shot a quick glance at the grandness of the ballroom before turning and following suit.

The ballroom started to cripple and in the next minute I had a different view. I stood in front of a large double door. Muffled voices escaped from under the doorway before the same elderly woman, who had ushered the girls from the ballroom, came out with a disappointed look on her face.

Walking to the double door they seemed to open on their own revealing…

SAM! WAKE UP!” Jake had been leaning over me yelling in my ear, when I heard him yell we had collided into each other.

“OW!” We both yelled.

Grabbing my head in hopes it would reduce the pain, I yelled back at Jack, “What did you do that for?”

“I’m hungry,” he said with a smile on his face. Apparently butting heads had amused the damn kid.

“You woke me up because you were hungry? Why didn’t you just make yourself a sandwich or something?” I know I shouldn’t have been taking my anger out on him but I was seriously pissed I didn’t see who was in that room in my dream.

I had to admit, though, that was a pretty weird dream. Not the flying-whale-kicking-ass-as-a-ninja kind of weird, but just I-think-I-dreamed-an-Oscar-Award-for-best-movie kind of weird.

“I’m sorry Sam but I want meat. I’m a growing boy and this boy needs his manly meat,” he said raising his arms and flexing to show off his muscles—at least what he thought was muscle. I swear though, this boy is just so adorable. I mean who the heck says manly meat?

I chuckled internally and got up to make him some early dinner.

Stopping at the entrance to the kitchen I looked back at Jake “C’mon, let’s make you some 'manly meat' before you become a girl.” I said while still wondering what lied behind those mysterious double doors

Yay, she's finally a teenager. Sorry it took so long to get to the actual story. Yes, I'm slow, I know haha.

So I've noticed that a lot of you are silent readers. I know I sometimes get lazy and don't wanna bother with it, but c'mon, be a sport and go push that button over there...somewhere ----->

It would honestly really help and that way I can see who's actually reading my story so I can thank ya or something. Commenting also helps, even if it's a "YOU SUCK" or "OH MY GOSH, DID YOU SEE HIS HAIR?" lol
