Chapter 10: Power

Start from the beginning

"Care for a dance?" He asked, voice smooth and deep, his hand out to take mine.

I flinched at his question, immediately waving my hands. "O-oh no, I'm sorry. I don't dance." I gave him a sheepish smile and he chuckled in response.

"Apologies. My name is Erwin," he introduced himself, extending his hand once more. "(Y/N)." I smiled and gave his hand a brief shake before placing it by my side again.

He looked at me for a second, his eyes wandering to my body. Or more specifically, my clothes.

"Interesting choice of clothes there," he commented with a smile, meeting my gaze once more. "Usually girls would be extremely picky about clothes to wear at a party."

I huffed in annoyance. "Not every girl is like that."

"So I see," he chuckled.

"Erwin there you are!" A woman voice called out.

Erwin turned around as he heard his name being called, greeting the person. "Hanji."

Wait, what?

"You're friends with Hanji--"

"Oh I see you've met (Y/N)," Hanji cut me off, waving a hello to me.

I would've smiled and waved back if it weren't for Levi staring daggers at me again.

"I tried for a dance with her, but it seems that she doesn't," Erwin explained, throwing a glance at me.

I rolled my eyes at him, giving him a nudge in annoyance. Honestly, this guy was so easy to get along with. He had a fun personality, and was friendly as hell.

"Wow (Y/N) you really didn't give an effort with your clothes did you?" Hanji commented with a quick glance.

"Not that I cared in the first place," I shrugged, not bothered by a single bit.

"You really need to find your feminine side girl."

"It'll come when it wants to come. For now I'll enjoy being a tomboy."

Hanji laughed at my statement, and Erwin gave another chuckle, his eyes glinting in a way I couldn't understand. Levi just stood there not doing anything, just standing still as a statue, blinking every once and a while.

His face was still indeed void of any expressions. But, for some reason, he was a little bit fidgety at the moment, not like his usual calm demeanor.

I listened to Hanji and Erwin chat, not really wanting to say anything. They asked how they were and all sorts of other stuff that didn't really matter to me. But whay caught my attention was when Levi quietly slipped away when the two weren't looking.

Though judging from the angle, I'm sure Erwin noticed as well. The two continued joking around and I was starting to feel like a third wheel, so I tried what Levi did.

And let me explained why I said tried.

Hanji noticed me instantly, and she asked if we all wanted to a drink or some snacks at the buffet. Erwin nodded, and I agreed since I was going to sneak off there anyways.

We made our way through the crowd, bumping or pushing some person every now and then. When we reached the heaven of food, I noticed there was barely anyone there, and I gave a silent sigh.

At once I headed for the fruit punch, taking a glass of the delicious liquid. The different fruit flavors danced in harmony on my tongue, and I closed my eyes to savour the moment. Eventually I had to swallow the mouthful drink in my mouth, cause it was just getting gross.
