"We'll bring her back. She trusted you enough to let you hold her, so that's saying something, right?" Jinxx murmured and as I thought about it, I knew he was right.
We weren't completely back at the start then, it seems.
All of us fell silent and I drained my beer before I got up, throwing the bottle into the trash.
"Andy, what do we say to the girls?" Jake's question caught me off guard and I sighed.
"Don't tell Madeline and Lily right out. Let her tell them. As for Sammi and Lori, she's gonna need them a hell of a lot. Fuck these rules for this week. The police will be around at some point this week, so mind if we just jam in the basement this week? I need something to distract me from all this bullshit which has happened." I muttered.
Truth was, I needed the distraction to stop me from the bastard and killing him with my bare hands.
"I've got not problem just jammin'. S'been awhile since we last jammed together, so.." Jake trailed off and I half smiled.
My mind kept drifting back to the girl who was curled up in her bed upstairs. I felt unfocused and worried.
"Dude, give her our love and tell her we'll see her tomorrow." Ashley caught my attention and I nodded. Once the guys were gone, I closed the door and locked it before I headed to my room.
I got myself changed into my pj pants and a loose shirt. I wasted no time as I quietly walked back to her room and carefully opened her door.
Kalli was sat with her back against the headboard, she'd obviously gotten changed, but her body was shaking with fear.
My anger returned once more and I reminded myself that Kalli didn't need to worry about my anger towards the son of a bitch who labelled himself as her father.
Her eyes darted towards me and her stiff shoulders relaxed.
"You kept your promise?" She sounded confused but I heard the happiness as well. I nodded my head and climbed onto the bed, sitting myself next to her. She hesitantly rested her head on my shoulder, so I moved my arm to wrap around her.
Her body automatically curled closer to mine and I rested my cheek on the top of her head.
"I'll always keep my promises to you, Kalli." I muttered and she seemed to relax even further. At least she was talking to us still. She was fighting.
And that made me proud. She wasn't letting him win.
After a while, her breathing evened out which told me that she was asleep. Keeping my promise, I shifted both of us so that we were lay down and I kept my arms around her before letting myself drift off to sleep.
Sleep wasn't easy. It seemed that Kalli was restless, but she slept through the night. I woke up for brief periods before crashing back out again and eventually the sun started to rise.
I remained curled up under the covers with Kalli, it was clear she wasn't going to wake up any time soon, so I fell back asleep and let my body relax.
After a few more hours, I cracked my eyes open and I felt Kalli snuggle against my chest. I smiled as I lay there, planning on how to treat the beauty who was lay in my arms.
I figured that she was going to be nervous, so I knew where to take her essentially. She deserved only the best, that was for sure.
I heard a vibration on the bedside table, so I picked up the phone, checking the caller I.D before answering.
It was an unknown number.
"Hello?" I asked hesitantly.
"Hello, is Miss Terrix there?"
