What would I do if I were in a situation like that? I thought for a while. "I'd first of all make sure none recognizes me, then I'll get a job somewhere to get decent amount of money for food...." I stopped, come to think of it... A job! She must have had a job to earn some money, unless she has not taken the money with her but given the situation all that happened in, I doubt she did get a chance to fetch money from her savings and even if she used a credit card, I would have received the message but I did not. "A job. That's it. Where could she be possibly working?" I wondered out loud and Kayla's eyes widened.
"She would also need a place to stay, so she must've found a job from which she could get somewhere safe to stay." She suggested and Ashton looked in deep thoughts. eh suddenly stood up, "I think I know where she'd have gone." He said before grabbing his car keys and leaving without a word.
ASHTON
Why didn't I think of it earlier? She must be there. Rose always wanted to teach poor kids. She once told me that living in an orphanage was not easy. She also mentioned that she would love to help in the orphanage when she grew up. We were twelve when we had this talk and I remember it as clear as day. I hurriedly rushed out of my room with my car keys without saying anything. I heard Aubrey called me out asking where the hell I was going but I was already out of there.
Twenty minutes later I reached the orphanage in Cynthrane. It was a three storey building and quite spacious. I went inside and looked for the owner. A tall women in her late forties came in view and I approached her, "Are you the owner of this orphanage?" I asked and she nodded. "Yes I am. What brings you here, young man?" she asked and I sighed. "I'm looking for someone, and I think she might be here. Did you hire anyone in the past two to three months?" I asked desperately and she seemed to think, she studied me for a while before saying, "Follow me." And I obeyed.
We entered a room what seemed like an office. It was small but looked pretty cozy. We sat on the chairs in silence, facing each other. "Well, a girl did come to me few months back to look for a job but we didn't have any empty space for her..." She started but I did not let her continue, "So you mean she's not here?" I asked a little more desperate, and she smiled. "You're quite eager little one, I'm not finished yet. What's your name?" she asked. Seriously? I ask a question and she answers it with a question? "My name's Ashton. Look mam, please tell me if she's here." I said making her sigh.
"As I was saying, I told her no but she said she doesn't have anywhere else to go, she needs a job and a place to say. This is an orphanage and we don't just leave people on the street who are homeless, so I offered her to stay. Can you tell me who are you looking for specifically? Her name and appearance." My face lit up, I felt I was so close to finding her. But there was also a chance she might be talking about someone else, "Rose. Her name is Rose. Average height almost 5'4, green eyes and blonde hair." I said, she pursed her lips before shaking her head.I took out my phone and showed her a picture of Rose. "She's the one I'm looking for." I said and she took a close look, "Very well. She is the one. But she looks a bit different." She said. "She ran away, obviously she's disguising herself so we couldn't find her. Please tell me where she is." I literally begged her to tell me. This was my only chance and I have to get her back home. "Listen kid, why do you expect me to tell you? For all I know you could be the one she's running from." She said as if testing me. "She's my best friend! She has a family who's worried for her. Please tell me where the hell are you hiding her before I call the cops!" I said now losing my patience. I know I was being rude and she was older than me but I was losing my patience. She did not have any right to keep Rose away from me or from her family.
"Ashton. I don't tolerate disrespect here and specially with me. And to answer your question, I don't know where she is. She quit her job and left yesterday." She said still clam and not affected by my threat. "Oh yeah? Why would I believe you? For all I know you're lying to me and she's still here." I said, not believing her. "You can search the quarters where the helpers stay and then you can leave. I have nothing to hide, young man." She said and I did not think twice before asking her to take me there.
She left. Why the hell she left all of a sudden? Did she know that was going to come here? I searched the quarters thoroughly only to find out that woman was right. Damn it! Why Rose? Why are you running away?
I got home only to have myself pinned against the damn wall with Aubrey holding my collar in her fist. Jeez! She's violent, now I know why she punched me the first time I met her after the accident. She was not the Innocent, shy Rose. "Where the hell did you run off to without telling us and not taking your phone with you?" She asked, "Girl, we can talk normally by sitting down. You don't have to have me by the collar to get things out from me." I told her and she glared at me before releasing me.
"I went to the orphanage, I remembered her telling me that she wanted to help the poor kids and work in the orphanage. So when you mentioned about the job..." I told them everything that happened there. Also that she already left. Aubrey was furious, we almost got her but then she had to just disappear. "God! This is like mission impossible." Kayla said and we all sighed.
"We can't give up. We still have to keep looking." I said and they nodded agreeing with me.***
