Chapter 1

He slowly gets up and starts walking in the oppisite direction. All of a sudden he stops.
"And by the way..." He takes a glance back at you and your a little confused.
"My name is Quirin." He turns his head back foward and continues to walk. You smile and look at Varian. Varian walks up in front of you and quietly laughs.
"This will be fun day" He says.
You nod and you guys start walking around.

Varian started talking about being an alchemist and how its not magic and how he wants to build something to give his village hot running water. You were way to focused on the chocolate displayed in the window of Montys Sweet Shop. You walk over to the window without Varian noticing and start examining all the sweets through the window. You see Monty, waving you to come in. You excitedly run in.
"Yeah well I completely failed that experiment too but, in the end, I learned my mistake! Isnt that all that matters? ....(___)? Hey where did you go?" He finally realized you wer gone and he started searching the area calling your name. You see him passing the window and rush to the door.
"So little lady, What would you like to have today?" Monty asks, smiling.
"I would like-" You turn your head for a second and spot Varian passing the window.
"Oh its just Varian.... Oh wait... VARIAN!' You run to the door. As he walks by the door you grab his shirt and pull him in, startling him.
"(___)! You scared me!" He yelled.
"Im right here! You dont have to yell." You laugh.

"But sorry, the chocolate sorta caught my attention." You point to the chocolate in the window.
"Not going to lie, If I noticed that, I probably wouldve run off too!"
You both start laughing.
You grab his arm and pull him to where Monty is.
"We will have the sweetest thing you have!"
Varian looks at you like your crazy.
"Coming right up Lady and Gentleman." Monty says then walks into the back.

"(___), You know this is a sweet shop right?"
You raise your brow in confusion.
"Yeah so?"
"Imagine how many sweets he has!?! How sweet can it get!?!?!?" His eyes grow wide.
"Varian, Its not like were about to die! It will be ok!"
Suddenly, Monty comes back.
"Here you kids go! A triple chocolate cookie with chocolate chips and caramel inside, sprinkled with sugar and hot fudge! Its also in the shape of the sun emblem. Its pretty big so I can split it in half for you two."
You nod and look at Varian. He gives you an 'are you serious' type look. You shrug and you two take each half of the cookie from Monty.
"Its on the house kids!" Monty happily says.
"Wow! Really!?! Thanks so much!" You say, grabbing Varian by the arm again and leading him out the door.

You two finally finish your cookies a lick off your fingers.
"That was.. Really good." Varian says, face still stuffed with cookie.
You chuckle a little bit and notice its starting to get a little dark.
"Varian! Its almost time for the lanterns! Come on!" Your really excited.
"I have never seen the lanterns before, so this is going to be so-"
"Cool I know!" Varian cuts you off.
"Wow! You think you can beat me at my own semtences, how about beating me at a race!" You start running to the docks, your satchel flying behind you.
"Hey! Not fair!" Varian yells behind you and starts chasing you.
Finding a boat, you jump into it, beating Varian. Five seconds later, Varian jumped into the boat. The boat was starting to tilt.
"Varian!? Do you want us to drown?" You joked.
Varian sits straight up and rows us farther out.
"Well Varian, since we have time, I made Ham sandwiches especially for today!" You pull out a couple ham sandwiches and give one to Varian.
Varians eyes widen and lets out a big smile. He stares at you for a second then looks at the ham sandwich.
"I love ham sandwiches! You are my new favorite person." He stares back at you before unwrapping it and eating it quickly. You chuckle and eat yours.
"The best thing is, They are cut into triangles!" Varian smiles with his mouth full.

You look down at the water and see a reflection of yourself. Not only thst but you see the reflection of the lanterns starting to float up. You look up and your jaw drops. Your amazed at the sight. You spot two other people in a boat near you who look familiar but your too focused on the lanterns. Varian stares at you, and grins at how your just staring at the lanterns, Its adorable.
You feel a light tap on your shoulder.
You look behind you and Varian is holding two lanterns. You take one with excitement and you and Varian lift yours up at the same time. They both spin around eachother in perfect circles. Your smile widens and you stare at Varian who is staring at you. At the moment, you glance to find Quirin on the dock, waving you and Varian over.
"Varian..." You point to his dad.
"Oh right! Sorry about that." He scratches his head.
"Dont be sorry, its ok." Your a little disappointed it had to end.

Once you make it to the dock, Quirin helps you and Varian out of the boat.
"Well (____), It was nice meeting you." Quirin gives you and hand shake.
"Yeah! I hope to see you again!" Varian gives you a hug before leaving.
"Ok Varian, Lets go" His dad puts his arm around his sons neck and they both started talking, walking off.
You smile sadly, wishing you had a relationship with your parents still. You walk off humming to yourself as the lanterns started to fade.
"Goodnight Corona" You said to yourself.
"I think Ill be here for a while."
