[IT'S ALLIIIIIVE

HAHA I hope I didn't scare anyone. It's been so long since I wrote a chapter for this story.

Does it count as hiatus if I never stopped feeling guilty? ;-;]

Lapis POV.

This had became a habit. Whether it was at my house or Peridots apartment, we would end up on the couch, sleeping in each others arms after talking.

Usually it was about the case, or just learning more about eachother, and after 3 more weeks of this, no more leads on the case, and a distressed peridot...

I was starting to get a weird feeling. It started off small as me and Peri made small suggestions in her office about the case.

But the more time passed, the more it grew. I didn't understand it.

But... peridot was also seeming a bit off. I didn't ask her about it, since she was still okay... but I just felt she was hiding something.

And now her phone was ringing. Again. She growled in annoyance and stood up, giving me a "sorry", then walking just outside as she answered.

Her phone had already rang 2 times, within the last 3 hours or so.

My bad feeling was getting worse. She wasn't telling me who it was. But it was someone saved in her phone, because the same (none default) ringtone played.

I began unconsiosly tapping my foot, until i heard peridot come back in. I heard a heavy sigh, then footsteps.

"Lapis I'm sorry but I need to go deal with something..." she rubbed her face before looking at me.

"Is something wrong?" I contained my questions about the calls. "What happened?" I stood up, giving her a worried look.

She paused for a second. "It's... well... it's a personal thing... again I hate it, but I HAVE to go. I'll be back in a couple hours." She gave a small hopefull smile.

I stepped forward and kissed her forehead, which made her blush. "Alright... I'll be here. It's okay."

It wasn't. My stomach was in knots. The bad feeling, and peridot leaving, without telling me why or where... it wasn't okay.

But I trusted her.

Peri POV.

"This is stupid...." I growled to myself, as I drove down the narrow dirt road. "Why out here?"

I stopped my car, but sat for a moment, petting the side of my leg. My pistol was loaded, but on safety. I didn't think I'd have to use it, but with my brother I can never tell.

I got out, closing my door and walking up the small, familier hill. I stopped by the tree, peering out over the small outskirts of these city.

"You know, I thought I would have to drag you here." I turned my head to see my brother coming up the hill with a seeming bodyguard.

"I came, to make you stop. I'm getting calls constantly. You know I have an ACTUAL job?" I scoffed, turning fully to face him.

He smiled. "Yeah yeah, but... surely you can't just work yourself to death. There are other things more important than a job.

Not you. Not ever.

Lapis... yes. Him? No.

"What do you WANT, Emil? Hmm? Or is ththisjust another Bullshit thing to waste my time when I could be at home?" I crossed my arms, leaning slightly to let my tee cover my gun.

He raised his arms. "No, sis. Not at all. Actually it's not me who wanted to talk to you. I'm a messenger."

I raised a brow, curling my toes up. "What? What are you talking about?"

His smile faded to a look of seriousness. "It's about dad..."

I immediately frowned. "No. No way. Fuck you. And you can go tell him-" I poked his chest "that an apology doesn't fix ANYTHING." I tried to push past to go back to my car, but his bodyguard stood in my way.

"Sis hear me out..."

"NO." I pushed the bodyguard, but he stayed In place. "I'm done, e mil. I was done along time ago. HE made HIS. Decision, and I'm making mine."

I grabbed the bodyguards shoulders and kneed him in the crotch. HARD. he toppled over and I stepped over him as i walked angrily back to my car.

I heard emil yelling behind me, but I turned out his words as i got in my car and drove away.

I was still fuming when I got back to my apartment. I opened the door and shut it, pressing my head against the door and growling. "Why..."

I heard a muphled groan and a plop from the living room, and a half awake lapis came through in a loose t shirt and shorts.

"Peri?" She yawned. "Are you alright?" She gave a more worried look and stepped closer.

I gave a sigh and turned, pulling her into a loose hug. She moved one hand up to grip my shoulder, and I saw a small smile appear.

"If you wanted cuddles just say so..." she kissed my forehead and wrapped her other arm around my torso.

I moved up and kissed her. She was shocked, but relaxed and kissed back. After about a minute I pulled away, and she moved her hand up to my face.

"Peri... something happened, didn't it? You can tell me... it's okay..."

I shook my head. "I'm sorry lapis... I'm so sorry... I'm just..." I stepped back. "I'm just... I'm a mess."

She stepped forward, kindof pinning me to the door, but not on purpose. "Everybody's a mess sometimes. And don't apologize. You didn't do anything wrong."

"That's not how they see it..." I whispered, looking up into her eyes. "I should tell you... but I'm ashamed. I want to forget but it always comes back...."

I closed my eyes and tried to choke back the surge of stupstupi emotion I was feeling. I knew there was no point but everything hurt.

I felt lapis kiss my cheek, then my forehead, before closing the small 2 inch gap between our bodies and laying her forehead on mine.

She stayed silent, but I knew she wanted to help. She couldn't. And she didn't know what to say, but she was here.

I moved and kissed her again, but this time she didn't seem shocked. Just... warm. Caring.

I felt more tears run down my cheeks, but I had never been happier.
