8. {Push Me Away}

Cheryl-

During the movie my phone started ringing, so I answered it.

"Hello?" I say.

"Cheryl blossom?" The voice says.

"Yes. This is her." I say.

"This is Sheriff Keller. Your grandmother has been reported to be pushed down the stairs, she is in critical condition. We have suspects that it was your
mother and uncle. Would you know of any suspicion between them two, if so could you please come down here." He says.

My mouth drops hearing this. Why would they hurt Nana Rose? And Uncle?

"Uh Yes, I'll be right there" I say nervously.

I hang up the phone and I put it down.

"Everything okay?" Toni asks standing up.

"I-I don't think so.. I got to go" I say grabbing my phone and then rushing out of the room.

"Cheryl." Toni yells. "Cheryl wait up" she yells again.

I rush out of her house and I hear Toni running up to me.

"Where are you going?" She says catching up to me.

"I have to go to the sheriffs office. Can you drive me there" I say.

"Yes of course, lets go." She says hopping on her bike.

I get on and she drives to the sheriffs office as fast as she could.

We arrive and I rush inside. I find Sherrie Keller and we go into his office, I take a seat in front of him.

"What happened?" I say with a racing heart.

"Well we got an anonymous call saying that they heard something at the Thistlehouse, we went to investigate, and well we found your grandmother on the bottom Of the stairs. She was unresponsive, she was put in the hospital right away. But it didn't seem like she just fell down the stairs, like I said on the phone we have our suspicions. We will be investigating more, but for now your mother and uncle will not be staying at that house." He informs us.

Toni looks shocked, me not so much. I knew my mother was not a good woman, neither was my father. I guess it runs in the family. But this uncle, I've never heard of him.

"Thank you Sheriff Keller, I'm not shocked about this news. I'm just glad somebody finally did something." I say giving him a nod and a small smile.

We finish up talking and me and Toni leave the building.

"Are you okay?" Toni says trying to comfort me.

"Why do I feel like all you say anymore is if I'm okay. Yes I'm fine, I'm actually fantastic. I get you care about me but you don't need to ask me if I'm okay every ten seconds." I say getting frustrated.

"Calm down, it was just a question. I'm so sorry for trying to care about you, you just think you can go through everything by yourself, because you think you're strong. But sometimes Cheryl, it's nice to have someone by your side. So if you want to push me away, do it. Because I'm so sorry for trying." She says crowing her arms starting to raise her voice.

"I never said I was pushing you away, but you can't always protect me. I'm not a child, I'm not yours, we are nothing. I am nothing to protect, I am my own person, yes I like to have you in my life but you need to back off sometimes." I say staring to raise my voice.

"You know what, fine I'm done. I really thought you would want someone in your life who cared about you, but you just want to push them away too. So fine, I'll leave. Because obviously you don't want me in your life." She says storming off to get on her bike.
