{Lance x Reader}; Friendly Neighbor

Start from the beginning

"You might let me come?... Nyma, I met him today, and he only saved me. He doesn't deserve to go to one of your booze-fests. Now please leave me alone."

"Y/N, I've never wronged you once. I don't know where this brat-like attitude came from, but cut the crap and tell me how you know the newest superhero in New York City."

"Never wronged me? You literally tripped me two days ago and somehow got me detention for 'spraining your ankle', and look who's strutting up to me fine now." You added, and she glared down at you, admitting her defeat.

"I was trying to offer you something to give your life meaning, you little thot. Choose wisely." She sneered before walking away to, most likely, ruin what little reputation you had in this school's social map.

"No one will take you seriously if you say thot." You muttered, reminiscing on the "begone thot" internet jokes. Just minutes before the period ended, Lance silently ran into the classroom and began unloading his things, trying it remain unseen from the teacher.

"So, what's the topic today?" He whispered, turning to you, and you slipped your note-taking and over-doodled notebook his way.

"Heredity Unit, genetics review, page 2.5..." You replied, your voice hushed. He nodded silently and took the book, then studying it carefully. This had become a norm for you, since he was gone so unusually much. You don't even know why he used your notes, they were wrong or incomplete, if not both most of the time. He was just too attractive and kind to tell him that he was failing because he trusted you.

The rest of the day following that moment was grueling, with a punishment of a mile-long sprint in P.E. for declining a phone call, chicken-pot-pie day in the cafeteria, and an A- on the chemistry quiz. However, you were shocked to find Lance relieving you about it, using his own failures as a boat for your confidence.

"Don't feel bad, you did better than me! I got a B." He joked, showing his 'B' proudly. You blushed very pinkly and laughed, making him chuckle along. You had liked him since forever, which was actually a good catch, for no one else really seemed to notice him. An unpopular hot guy who's smart and nice, score!!

You sighed happily that day as you thought back on it and dragged yourself down onto the bus stop bench, slamming your butt onto the concrete. Oh yeah, my stop was obliterated. Fantastic.

You sat up, looking around to see if anyone saw your fall. You considered the coast clear, and decided instead to lean against the pole that shows the placement of the stop. As you scrolled through the playlist of {Favorite Musical/Music Group}, you eventually selected 'shuffle' and hummed along.

The bus ride was nice, looking out into the cloudy, sprinkling evening as you grew closer to your neighborhood. You thanked the driver on the way out and stepped onto your block. After taking in the cool rain for a moment, you pulled the hood over your head, foolishly and unknowingly blocking your view of things above you.

When you reached home, both of your parents were working, so you did the usual rainy-day routine; Hot cocoa, book, umbrella, balcony. Yes, you were lucky enough to score the room with a decent,  dining-table-sized balcony. You were in the only bedroom upstairs, after all.

After settling, comfortable and dry into the chair underneath the umbrella, you pulled open {Favorite Book} and began to devour the literature. You were getting to your favorite part- you had already read it four times, what can you say- when you heard a thud in front of you. The sudden noise startled you so bad that you fell backwards in your chair, throwing your book into the rain and allowing the umbrella to close around your arm.
