Chapter Twenty-Seven: Taken

Start from the beginning

I raised my brow higher. “Waiting for me? Why?”

“Well, it’s five o’clock and no one is going to drive you home,” he said casually.

“So you’re going to drive me home?”

            “Why? Do you want to?”

I shrugged. “I guess so. I don’t know anyone who could drive me back to my house.”

Philip winked. “Well, I’m willing to drive you to your house.”

            I smiled uncomfortably. “Um, sure.”

And with that, he walked to my side and the two of us were walking to the parking lot. “Don’t you know we had a Queen Victoria in England?” he asked, amusement twinkling in his eyes.

I laughed. “Oh yeah, I know that.”

“Were you named after that queen?”

“I don’t know,” I replied, shrugging. “My family is a V-family. My dad is Victor and my mom is Violet. My older brother is Vince and I’m Victoria.”

“Ah, nice selection of names,” Philip said, smiling.

            I grinned. “Thanks.”

There was a comfortable silence as I followed Philip to his car. When we stopped outside of a Lamborghini, he opened the passenger car door for me. “After you, m’lady,” he said, using an exaggerated British accent.

I laughed. “Thank you, my good man,” I replied in the same British accent and got in the car.

“Your seatbelt,” he told me and then I buckled my seatbelt over my lap. “Good.”

As Philip walked around the car and got in the driver’s seat, my heart was pounding so hard inside my chest. I remembered what Ian told me about Philip. How he almost killed his father, how he was violent and how he cannot be trusted. But I can’t help feeling that he might have changed. After all, it’s been a long time, isn’t it?

And so he started the engine and then we were off.

When we were out of the grounds of the school, Philip suddenly accelerated and made a sharp turn to the right to God knows where. “Where are we going?” I asked, frowning. “And, by the way, you don’t even know where my house is! Where are you taking me?”

“Ian is a son of a bitch, Victoria,” Philip suddenly roared. “You are better off without him.”

“What—what are you talking about?” I asked, gripping on the seatbelt. Philip was driving way too fast.

“He doesn’t deserve you. He doesn’t deserve anything.” An odd laugh escaped Philip’s lips. “Or maybe he deserved something. He deserved the death of his parents!”

“Philip! How dare you say that!” I gasped.

“He has everything! A happy family, the girl I love—he has everything that I’ve always wanted! And he deserved to be unhappy, to be depressed! He doesn’t deserve to be happy with his life! He doesn’t deserve you.”

“Philip, what are you talking about?!” I asked calmly.

“I’m going to take you away from him. I’m going to make him unhappy again. I’m going to make sure that he will stay like that.”
I glared at him angrily. “You’re nothing but a monster!” I spat.

“Yes, maybe I am. But that doesn’t stop me, Victoria.”

“Stop this shit,” I demanded. “Stop it! Aren’t you going to feel guilty—?”

“I didn’t feel guilty when I set the house on fire,” he said simply.

My eyebrow stitched up together as I continued glaring at Philip as he drove to a street that I don’t know. “What… what do you mean?”

“I set Ian’s house on fire,” he said casually, as if he was talking about the weather. “I was the one who spilled the gas and dropped the matches of fire. I was the one who killed his parents. I was the one who killed Patricia.”

My jaw dropped. “You… you son of a bitch!”

“I am a son of a bitch. My mother is nothing but a whore.”

“Philip! How dare you say that!”

“She hates me. She fucking hates me. She was a fucking whore and was mad at me because she was stuck with my dad. She hates me but I love her. I don’t know why but I love her. Maybe because she’s my mother and I crave a mother’s love. But I never, ever loved my dad. My mother might have hated me but she wouldn’t hit me. My dad does.”

            “Philip… I don’t know what you’re trying to say.”

He gritted his teeth. “What I’m trying to say is that I’m jealous of Ian. He has a perfect family. His parents love him very much and then he got the girl that I ever love. Nothing is fair!”

And with that, he abruptly stopped and then glared at me. “And I’m going to take you away.”

            “To where?”

“To your grave,” he replied, his voice dangerously low.

Before I knew it, a white handkerchief was placed above my nose. My eyes widened but slowly closed as I fainted.
