"Don't. Don't do that. That's- that's bullshit." Julian's typically doe eyes went stern; his face twisted in annoyance, all the while shifting in his seat—agitated. "You know, believe it or not... I earned the shit I have. You think you're the only one that's worked two jobs to get what they want?-"

"Yeah, but I didn't have a choice."

"Jus- listen to me... I didn't really have a choice either. Yeah, I had a financially sound life, for the most part. But... my parents don't make much. I've got my mom and Sam... my dad's the one with the money and... well, he's not exactly there, if you know what I mean. So don't go tryin' to make me feel bad for that shit."

Harlow's guilt was evident—she hadn't meant to make Julian upset. She was simply standing her ground, wanting to get to the bottom of all the questions he was asking about her future. Why did he care so much?

"I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to make you feel bad, I was just... trying to get my point across. We're gonna lose the house... and there's nothing we can do about it."

"Things change, you know. Nothing ever stays the same. Imagine your life in an alternate universe, where you weren't gonna lose the house you grew up in... you really think you're gonna be livin' there forever- goin' to Dwight forever? Either way, something was gonna change, it had to. Whether or not you take that scholarship or stick around the city... somethin' was bound to change." Julian swallowed hard, hoping he hadn't offended her... again. He drew in a deep breath, exhaling a little too loudly. "That's all I'm tryin' to say. Things change, nothin' stays the same. I'm just wantin' to know why you're still stickin' around. If moving to California to study... biological... sciences?" Julian smirked when hearing Harlow snicker—he barely remembered what she had planned to study. "If that's something you really wanna do, then do it. I'm just tryin' to figure out what you're still doing here. That's all I was gettin' at."

Looking at Julian in that moment, the answer to that question was clear. There had been many reasons why she hadn't wanted to take the scholarship—one, was Alex. But since Alex was no longer an obstacle, her only reason to stay in New York was her mother—Harlow didn't want Frankie having to deal alone. But Harlow knew; she knew her mother had Scott. Deep down, she knew that going to Stanford wasn't what she wanted to do, but had made many excuses to not have to admit that. And looking at Julian... he was another excuse.

He was no longer a student at Dwight, and although she missed him today during class, he was still there after school—ready and willing to hangout.

Something was happening—something was keeping Harlow there, and a small piece of that something was Julian. Years had passed and she had yet to actually live—until getting to know Julian. She had friends now, she had fun and had something unexplainable with Julian that outsiders wouldn't understand.

"I don't wanna leave... I wanna stay here. But, I don't know if staying here is the right thing to do. New York will always be here... Stanford won't be." She shrugged.

Julian chewed on his bottom lip, his eyes roaming all around the visibly upset beauty apprehensively. He glanced to the backseat, looking to Harlow worriedly.

"Wanna forget about it?... for a little while, at least?" Julian forced a halfhearted smile.

She smiled sheepishly. "Have you ever had sex in a car before?"

"No, but I ate a girl out in the backseat of my mom's car once."

Harlow laughed; there was something about the way he had said that—serious and slightly embarrassed. He was shameless and yet also humble about what had taken place in the backseat of that car.

"Jules," Harlow pursed her lips, thinking of how to phrase what she was about to say; she didn't want to take a chance on scaring him away. "I don't want you to take this the wrong way, but... you're not like Alex, or most guys I've known. No matter what, you're always yourself, you're not trying to sell anyone some bullshit."

"What made you think I'd take that the wrong way?" Julian chuckled, dabbing out the fire of his joint in the ashtray of Harlow's car.

"Well... to be honest... I'd rather be anywhere with you, than anywhere else. I-" She swallowed hard—her gut already telling her not to say it. "I like you more than I should."

Julian's expression was deadpan—completely unreadable. The sight caused her to worry; what he said next didn't match his eyes. "I don't get it- what am I supposed to take wrong from that?"

"I don't wanna scare you off." She laughed nervously. "I like this- I like what we're doing. I just want you to know that... I'd rather be here, right now, with you than... anywhere else."

Julian smiled, averting his gaze to the floorboard as he dropped his foot from under his knee. He seemed flattered and quite bashful by Harlow's admission. But he didn't stay serious for too long.

"You want me to go down on you again? That why you're sayin' all that nice stuff?"

Harlow blushed, sliding down into the driver seat while covering her face with her hands. "No." She mumbled into her palms. "Just... fuck me. In the back seat." She nearly cringed at her own words.

"I don't know... what's in it for me?"

"The privilege of being inside my body?" She giggled.

Without a hitch, Julian was climbing the seat, tripping over his own shoes to get in the back. He plopped down, pushing his hair back. "Ready, babe." Julian patted his lap, smirking devilishly with stoned, heavy eyes.

Harlow didn't think twice, she was following Julian's lead, climbing over the seat to get to him. She sat down next to him, biting her bottom lip as she unbuttoned her jeans, pulling them down, along with her panties—never once breaking eye contact. His breath hitched at the sight of her, mimicking her seductive movements as he too pulled down his pants and underwear.

Neither of them looked to one another's bodies—they were too caught up in the abnormal gaze being shot their way—penetrating each other with their eyes.

Harlow's hand snaked around Julian's neck, planting her lips firmly to his as she climbed into his lap, feeling the stiffness of his groin press into her thigh. She held onto his shoulders, waiting for Julian to make the next move. He swept her hair away from her neck, gripping a hold of her hips.

"I gotta tell you somethin'... I like you a lot more than I probably should, too."

Harlow's mouth fell agape; but before she could comment, Julian was gliding her hips down over his member, pushing himself completely into her in one precise thrust.
