"Ah, Christ. Now we got the feds on our back... I knew this was going to be a shitty day."
"Guys you are ignoring me! What happened?" Y/N said.
"It's not something we can describe...It's something you need to see." Chris said. Y/N rolled her eyes. Why couldn't she just be told now? "A group of 4 androids." Chris said. "They knew the building and were very organized. Still wondering how they got in without being noticed."

"Did you check the roof?" Y/N asked.
"Not yet."
"Surely that should have been one of the first places you checked." Chris shook his head and continued.
"They threatened security guards on their way in. A station employee managed to get away and sound the alarm. The deviants took the employees hostage while they..." He looked at Y/N, "While they broadcast their message live."

"What?" Y/N shouted in shock. She rushed forward and saw the massive screen showing an android with no skin asking for equal rights, the right to own land, the right to elect representatives, and that all crimes against androids to be treated like all other crimes. She watched the screen with wide eyes and amazement. She felt... proud.
"It's disgusting isn't it." A voice said from beside her. She turned and saw a man dressed in fancy clothes. He held his hand out,
"Special Agent Perkins from the FBI." Y/N shook his hand.

"Officer Y/L/N and no, I don't believe it is disgusting at all. What's wrong with someone peacefully asking for freedom"
"They took over the station and demanded something they shouldn't even want."
"They did it with no casualties. Nobody was harmed. So, Channel 16 lost a few minutes of screen time."
"Why are you defending them. Aren't they the start of all your problems?" Y/N remained silent but stood her ground. "It doesn't matter anyway. The FBI will take over the investigation. You'll soon be off the case. I think I'll go and introduce myself to your partner. Have a nice day." He gave her a fake smile. She stood looking at pieces of evidence when Hank came over with Connor in tow,

"Did you meet that prick?"Hank asked. Y/N nodded. "What an asshole."
"Tell me about it... If you like, you can search down here and I'll go search the roof. Spread the resources." As she walked to the stairs she saw all of the bullet holes in the walls and winced. They wouldn't open fire on humans like this.
"Maybe it is time they got their freedom." She mumbled to herself as she ascended the stairs.

Once outside she pulled her coat closer to her body. The snow from yesterday had laid on the ground. The wind still sprinkling the tiny white flakes. It was freezing. If she wasn't working on the case she would run back inside and stay in the warmth. But this wasn't the time. There was the odd police officer walking around.

On the floor was a duffle bag with one parachute still there. How odd. They had pulled all of this off and yet they had one too many parachutes. Unless... She looked around and saw some blue blood. Must be fresh if she could still see it.
"Did you find an android on the roof?" She asked one of the officers. He shook his head.
"No. If we did, you'd know about it." She sighed and carried on looking.

In the snow she spotted some more blue blood. The snow was beginning to cover it but it was still visible. Looking at the initial blood she found she could guess what direction the injured android went. She followed it around the back to a service room. She knew she should have opened the door with her gun ready. It was something she had learned years ago. Always survey your area.  Always be ready. Survey the area and then proceed but still be on the guard.

But she wanted to find the deviant. Maybe help him escape. She'd had enough of this. Whoever this android was he was being persecuted for wanting freedom. From what she knew of history. Freedom came at a price. But if someone helped. If only once, then freedom was one step closer. Maybe she shouldn't have played superhero. She should have thought the situation through. The android of course would have been frightened. Of course, he would protect himself from anyone who found him. Especially a human. But she didn't think of that.

She opened the door and the android jumped on her. His LED a violent red. He was dressed in workman clothes and he had a gun. He shot but missed.
"Please! I'm here to help!" She quickly said raising her arms. The android stopped for a moment but replied.
"Humans hate us. They will never help us." The officers on the roof began shooting at the android. Taking his opportunity the android grabbed Y/N and used her as a human shield. He had her held close to his body as he pointed his guns at the officers who had immediately stopped shooting. Others, who had heard the gunfire from the roof rushed up to see what the commotion was. Hank and Connor included. Connor looked and saw the android who had taken Y/N hostage.

It was the same model android who had taken the little girl hostage a few months back. He had managed to save the little girl last time but he had context. Information. He knew nothing about this android. The last time the android died when he saved the little girl but they needed this android alive. But he needed to save Y/N.

Connor didn't hear the new officers shouting orders to take cover. The android had begun firing. Hank grabbed Connor and pulled him into safety. Connor looked at Hank desperately.
"We need to get Y/N back!" Hank almost saw the concern on Connor's face. "We also need to make sure the android isn't destroyed. We won't learn anything!" Hank rolled his eyes. He was happy Connor took his mind off the investigation for two seconds but angry it was only 2 seconds.

"If we are going to save Y/N it's too late to save it. Either we kill it or it kills her and everyone else on this roof." Connor rushed up from cover and ran towards the android dodging all bullets being fired his way. Hank tried to grab hold of his jacket but he was too slow. Connor's only focus was to get Y/N and make sure she was safe.

Connor got closer and closer to the android dodging every bullet. The android figured out there was no use firing at Connor so instead turned his gun on Y/N. Connor got to them before he could fire and grabbed hold of his arm. Without intending to he probed its memory. The android in shock let go of Y/N and shot itself.

It fell to the floor and Connor took a step back. The officers moved in with their guns ready in case the android was still a threat. Hank rushed to Y/N and hugged her close.
"Y/N." he said. He pulled away but still held her at arm's length. "Are you okay? Talk to me."
"I'm fine. I'm fine." She said more to herself rather than Hank. Her heart was racing and she was sweating despite the snow on the ground. "Connor." She said looking around. He was still next to the body of the android. Staring at it. "Connor." She repeated. She touched his arm in hopes to get his attention

"Are you hurt Connor?" She asked.
"I'm okay." He said. There was something in his voice. He was shaken.
"Are you sure?" Hank pushed. Connor didn't say anything. "Jesus you both scared the shit out of me! Y/N you knew better then to go into a situation like that with out your gun! Policing 101! And you Connor! I told you not to move! Do either of you do as you are told?" He was shouting but everyone knew he was relieved and happy. There was just too much adrenaline in his system to show it properly.

"I was connected to its memory." Connor softly said.
"What?" Y/N asked rubbing his arm. A gesture lost on him but he knew humans did it to show empathy.
"When it fired..." he sounded like he was going to cry. "I felt it die."
"Oh Connor!" Y/N gasped in shock.
"It felt like I was dying." Y/N grabbed Connor and hugged him. Tears almost threatened to fall from her eyes. "I was scared." He admitted hugging Y/N back. The physical contact did help him. But he could still feel it. The terror. They hugged for a time but Connor pulled away. "I saw something. In its memory. A word... pained on a piece of rusty metal. Jericho."

AN: I'M SORRY SIMON!!!!
AN 2022: So I killed Simon off (despite being one of my favorite characters) to get the "Connor is traumatized" route. 4 years later I still hate myself for doing it.
