Tyler hated how he could hear his screams. He knew how scared he must be despite his tough exterior. He knew how painful those needles could be if you didnt do as they asked. He knew how worn down, defeated and almost submissive you become when you leave the testing chamber. In the testing chamber, they find what makes you unique. Then take your DNA and dose you with medications that make you paralysed so you can't move while they test chemicals to see how they react against your properties. Or see if you contain any yourself. It's fucked up, really.
The brunette layed with his back against the bed. His right leg casually hung from the side with the left perched up. He played with a loose strand on his orange jumpsuit beside his serial number on his chest. His mind lingered to Patrick, and a concern frown displayed across his face as he remembered his reaction when Tyler tried to comfort him. What happened to him?
He was startled out of his daydream when the metallic clining banged against his cage. "Don't move." The guard instructed gruffly. Tyler rolled his eyes and propped his arm unter his head. It wasn't like he was planning to move anyways. However, he wasnt expecting another silhouette. His eyes widened as he perched up, the guard eyeing him as he unlocked the cell with a keycard. He turned back and it was then he saw the man bend down to lift what sounded like a drunk man. It was Dun. With one rule enforcer on wone end, and another lifting his feet they not-so-gracefully slung his body down on the bed adjacent to Tyler's.
Dun's hair was dark brown now. Tyler guessing that was it's resting state since he seemed too out of it to do- anything. His arm slung off the bed as the guards rushed out and locked them back in.
Tyler studied the sleeping man, hoping he wasnt being as creepy as he thought himself to be while staring at him. Dun had blush pink lips yet strong hands. And his arms suited his muscular frame well. He had many tattoos, and when he shifted be coukd see a heart tattoo with the word 'MOM' etched in bold. Tyler smirk seeing as he was definetly a soft hearted person. A curl fell from his head and onto his forehead that creased when he shifted uncomfortably. Tyler thought of brushing it off but fought against it.
"Where am I?" Said a confused, fairly deep voice. Tyler studied him as his eyes blinked open slowly and from where he sat he could see hazel and green mixed with his eyes.
"Hell." He replied bluntly. By the scared look on the others face, he should've been less assertive. "Not really, but actually, we don't know. But that name is fitting so we go with it."
"W-why am I here?" He says, conciousness coming back to him as he woke from a drug-induced haze.
Tyler shrugged. "We're special."
"We?"
"Yeah. We're not the only one's here, but me and you are the only 'level fives'" Tyler quoted with his fingers.
"I keep hearing that but what does it mean." He groggled. Tyler narrowed his eyes at tbe other as he began to ball his fists at his sides.
"We're capable of doing more than most." The brunette glanced down at his fist, trying to think of what Tom would usually do in these situations. Except, he wasnt at socially suave as he was. "I'm Tyler." He introduced. "You're Dun?"
He nodded, unsure. "That's my last name." Tyler's eyebrows raised. So Jenna was right. "My name's Josh."
Tyler looked pleased, seeing Josh as a more reasonable name.Josh stood up his gaze focused on the wall of tiny tally marks that nearly took up the whole surface. "What's this?" He asked softly, his finger trailing down the lines as if it'll crumble under bis touch.
"How long I've been here."
Josh turns to look at Tyler with something in his eyes Tyler couldn't exactly pinpoint. Shock? Pity? Tyler seemed to surprise himself at how calmly he even said it.
"I'm sorry." Is all Josh says before he trudges back over to the bed and sits with an unsatisfied grunt.
"You can start one too," Tyler points to the wall behind Josh. Josh follows the trail, shaking his head.
"I don't plan on staying long."
Tyler nearly laughed. He says it like he could just leave. He said it as if this was just some 24 hour motel and after he'd eat his bed-in-breakfast he can leave. "Seriously?" Tyler asked with a coy grin on his face.
Josh's face grows stern. "Yes, don't you want to get out of here."
"Hell yes!" Tyler stands up, folding his arms. "And as long as I've been here don't you think I've tried!"
Josh stood up, eyes locked on Tyler's as he attempted to level their height. He stood close, feeling challanged by Tyler's demenor. "Yeah, and as long as you've been here you haven't met me." He replies with determined eyes and a finger pointed firm on Tyler's chest.
And that's how they are for the next few minutes, staring intently into eachothers eyes and Tyler's arms unfolded. There was so much tension between them that Tyler couldn't help but crack a smile. "I like you." Tyler says breaking the silence, Josh's finger falling from Tyler's firm chest. "You're fierce."
Josh tilted his head a small smile split his lips. "I never back down from a fight." He admits.
"That's a trait you have, that I need. I think we'll get along just fine." He sits back down on the bed. Shifting over so theres more room Josh sat beside him. "Now what's your plan, fire boy?"
