ADFGX
The ADFGVX cipher was a field cipher used by the German Army on the Western Front during World War I.
So for example, Our plaintext is "Attack at Once" then ofcourse we'll use the square below. And take note that, I and J shares only one cell.
Using the square, it'll be like this.
A= AF why? Since the letter A is in A row and F column.
T= AD why? Since the letter T is in A row and D column. And so on... It's just like the polybius square.
T= AD
A= AF
C= GF
K= DX
A= AF
T= DF
O= DF
N= FX
C= GF
E= XFNext, we'll wright the message in rows under a transposition key..
So for example, the key that I'll use is "CARGO". You're the one who's responsible for chosing your own key to use.
So it'll be like this,
C A R G O
_________
A F A D A
D A F G F
D X A F A
D D F F X
G F X FNext, let's arrange the key in alphabetical order. So the CARGO will be ACGOR. It's like we're just going to rearrange them and the letters under them also. So it'll be like this,
A C G O R
_________
F A D A A
A D G F F
X D F A A
D D F X F
F G F XThen it is read of by columns.
So our final cipher text is:FAXDF ADDDG DGFFF AFAX AFAFX
