Chapter 53: Protect

I shook my head, trying to get rid of the rising darkness behind my sight. By now, I was stumbling here and there. We still had to walk all the way to the plane, and I don't know if I could last that long.

All of a sudden, the weight from my shoulders was lifted from me. Despite my half-conscious state, I was able to glance up and see what took the heavy bag away.

Eren gazed at me with an eyebrow raised up. "Just try to stay awake until we reach the plane, okay (Y/N)? You can rest afterwards."

I nodded, too tired to respond.

"You know, it's not like you to be this tired (Y/N)," Armin stated, matching his pace with mine.

"I don't even know myself," I mumbled, rubbing a hand over my eyes.

"Well don't worry kid," Mr. Hannes assured, glancing back briefly. "It's just about a five minute walk to the plane."

Thank god.

As soon as I sat on the chair, I closed my eyes and immediately surrendered to the darkness.

Black. There was only black. Sweet, calming darkness. It was almost as if I was floating.

"We're landing soon," Eren said, buckling his seatbelt. I quickly fumbled with my own seatbelt, clumsily putting it on.

The brunette stared at me with curious eyes, before asking me, "Hey, we're you dreaming before I woke you up?"

I shrugged. "Something like that."

"Okay. Oh, by the way, I was going through some stuff that Ms. Falida was still holding for me, and I found something that looked like some sort of script."

My heart skipped a beat. "Script?"

"Yeah. But I can't exactly read it since the writing is so messy. I didn't know my dad had such ugly writing. I thought..."

I stopped listening after that. My mind spun around the one word that Eren said.
