Chapter Sixty: Calling It Quits?

Jazmin- Of course..So did you order anything?

Jake- Yeah I ordered us both croissants and a mango pudding for this little beauty.

Jazmin- Yummy..Thanks Jake she's going to love it..She's quite the eater you'd be surprised..

Jake- *Laughs...That's a nice bracelet..Never seen one like that..

Jazmin- Amy gave it to her on her first year..She said the guy that sold it to her mentioned it being a rare bracelet..

Jake- Well it's a perfect fitting for such a gem..

It filled me with joy and warmth to hear Jake express himself in such a special way about Aqua. He was definitely going to be a great Father to his little one. I also loved seeing him hold her. Even though she was his niece it almost felt like James was holding his daughter also.

Waiter- Here's your order Sir. Will your daughter need a seater?

Jazmin- Oh um-

Jake- *Chuckles...No we're fine..Im not letting go of this little cutie..

Waiter- She really is beautiful..Awe shes got your smile and wow definitely your eyes..You both are lucky parents to have such an adorable baby...*Smiles

Jazmin- (I awkwardly smiled)....Thanks..

Jake- Damn...I don't wanna even imagine what Miles reaction would've been...*Laughs

Jazmin- Don't be silly..He wouldn't have gotten upset..

Jake- I would've if I knew some stranger saw more similarities between my child and my baby mamas ex rather than me...Uh..Sorry Jazmin...I shouldn't have said that..

Jazmin- Lets just change the subject okay?..

Jake- Agree..

Jazmin- By the way...I wanted to ask you something..

Jake- What is it?

Jazmin- It has to do with....Um...James..

Jake- You still talk to him??

Jazmin- No I don't...I just thought I heard somewhere out there that he was around town again...I was wondering if it had anything to do with you?..Or if you would happen to know the reason why he's back..(Please say you do!)

Jake- I haven't spoken to him ever since he left town..

Jazmin- (I disappointedly looked down).....Oh I see...

Jake- Has he reached out to you?

Jazmin- Uh...No...No he hasn't...

Jake- Hmm...Okay..

There was a brief silence as I watched him thoughtfully stare at me. I ignored it and reached over to grab a napkin to wipe off some mango drip that hung from Aqua's lips.

Jake- Can I ask you something?

Jazmin- Um yeah?

Jake- Has he found out about you and Miles?..

Jazmin- I don't think so..

Jake- His best friend doesn't talk to him?..

Jazmin- They aren't exactly best friends anymore..After James left he ended all contact with everyone...Including Miles...

Jake- That must've been hard for him...I know they had some special bond...Almost like brothers...

Jazmin- But they aren't brothers...At least not blood brothers like you and him are..
