◆04◆ The scratches on the diamond

Start from the beginning

"...how did she escape?"

"She was saved. Giran said a magician heard what happened and he just felt like taking her away from her hell hole."

"That magician is a villain?"

"Apparently."

Dabi began to laugh lowly; it was so funny. The ones who were supposed to save her did not bother to save her. The people who used her body, there were ordinary people and heroes too...no wonder no one bothered to save her.

"Oi, priest. Where do they live?"

"What do you plan to do?"

"Nothing much. Oh, Michiyo and I won't come back for dinner tomorrow. We'll be out of the city."

"...I see." Ichinose was still inside the booth but Dabi had walked out of it. "Dabi, one last thing."

"What?"

"She deserves a lot of happiness. I might be a villain and I have done bad things before but I still wish for her happiness. Wouldn't it be great if you can bundle the light, and sprinkle it all over her like pure happiness?"

Dabi said nothing, but he will think about it.

...

Michiyo gasped when the door to her room was kicked open. She sat up, diamonds were stuck to her arms in patches and she looked at him with cold sweat. She grabbed the duvet and she held it against her chest.

"D-Dabi..."

Dabi sat on her bed and he looked at her with his turquoise blue eyes. "Why didn't you tell me a thing?"

"...huh?"

"Why didn't you tell me anything?" He thought she was just a runaway girl. He thought she was just an innocent girl who ran away from home due to a petty reason. He didn't know. He didn't know a single thing about her and her suffering. Now that he know a lot more than he needed to, he wanted nothing more but to hurt those who have went and hurt her.

"Y-you know...?"

Dabi said nothing. Michiyo paled and she tried to move away from him but he gently held onto her wrist. "Don't run away from me."

She tearfully looked at him, "I told you, Dabi. I'm the furthest thing from pure."

"And I told you, you're pure to me."

Hearing him say that after the horrible dream made her angry though. "Which part of me is pure?!" She was angry with the world, herself, her parents for abandoning her and being oblivious to her hellish 40 days, and the fact she was not pure. "None of me is pure, Dabi! None!" She pressed a single hand to her face and she screamed out as tears continued to pour down in sorrows. "Why would you say that? Why would you think that? Just what do you want from me, Dabi?"

This was the first time to see her break down. He hated it. He hated how the people who had hurt her literally got away with it. No heroes could do a thing for her, this kind and lovely girl who looked at him with life in her eyes. He much preferred her being this cute girl with an angelic smile who always looked at him like he mattered. He simply liked the innocence from her eyes and the way she innocently spent the days with him. He liked this peaceful feeling. "I'll tell you what I want. All I wanted is to bundle the light I'd plucked, and sprinkle it all over you like pure happiness."
