" Er, Dr. Watson, a man named Mike Stanford is here to see you. He bumped into me and kept asking me where you were at. " John motioned for Molly and his longtime friend Mike to come into his office. Mike sat down in one of the spare chairs in John's office while Molly flashed a friendly smile before running off to the morgue once again.

" Ah. It's been a while, John. "

" How long has it been? Five years? "

" Yeah man. How's that shoulder of yours? I hope that limp went away. " Mike knew that something else had happened that day John got shot. But John would just shut down so he could never get deep enough to actually figure out what happened. He felt hurt by the fact that even though he and John were buddies since they were five, John still kept the more personal parts of himself locked away.

" The shoulder is still giving me a little trouble at times. I can't overwork or it'll cramp up on me. The limp is still there. It gives me a bit of an excuse as to why I am late to everything. " They laughed at John's joke but it was really just a way to fill the emptiness in their conversation.

John and Mike wanted to tell each other everything that was on their minds but the men were lost in trying to put what they thought of into words. But maybe it was a good thing that they could not put their thoughts into words. Some things were just meant to be unsaid.

" Well, how is Greg doing? I haven't spoken to him in a while. " The last time John had spoken to Greg was the day he left for the army.

" He's doing great. He's working at Scotland Yard as the new DI. But he says his job is more like babysitting adults and you just get paid for it more than regular babysitters. "

" Ah, well I'll give him a ring when I get a chance. " Mike simply nodded and soon an awkward silence fell upon the two men.

" Well, I have to go and meet up with my buddies at the pub. I just wanted to come by and see you again. " The men got up at the same time and gave each other a warm hug. Mike walked off and John sat back down. He was going to shut his eyes when the wind came back. He groaned but sat up to look for his strange lover.

" John, why do you shut down so much? You've known Mike for years yet you choose to avoid opening up to him. I would expect you to open up to him more so than that therapist of yours. " John nearly shot up out his seat when Sherlock said that last sentence to him.

" Wait, have you been watching me this entire time? And you didn't bother to say anything to me for FIVE years? " John thought that Sherlock had left for good when that eventful day had happened. He never thought that he would stay and not say a word to him until now. But it still made John want to hurt the bloke that happened to be his angel.

" Well yes, John. I wouldn't leave you since my first priority is to take care of you. But I knew that you wouldn't want to see me so I just hid away. What's so wrong with that? " Sherlock wasn't lying when he said that. He thought he was doing the right thing. He still loved John but he didn't want to hurt him again. But Sherlock hiding only caused John more pain.

As much as Sherlock believed that John was mad at him after all those years had passed, he was wrong. John wasn't mad at him. He was just hurt. But it was that 15-year-old teen inside of John that made matters worse. Perhaps if John went with what his mind had told to him to do instead of his heart, maybe the wounds from when he was the tender age of fifteen wouldn't be so deep.
