I'll be running a bit late. Sorry. Something urgent came up :(

Huffing out an angry breath before placing the phone forcefully on the bedside table, I walked out of the room.

In the living room, Unnie was seated on the couch with a paper in her hands, while mum was sitting on the sofa. Looking at Unnie, she looked lost while staring at the single piece of paper.

Walking over to them and taking a seat beside Unnie, I looked over at mum, "What is it, mom?"

Unnie threw the paper onto the table and slumped back in the couch, "It's from Uncle. He's telling me to come back to America, " she said, staring at the ceiling with her fingers intertwined behind her head.

"WHAT!? WHY?" I yelled, standing up in anger.

Unnie, keeping her cool, let out a sigh before sitting up straight, "It's because he's been really sick since I came here and he's asking me to come back and complete my high school there. Until then, he might wrap up his business there and come back with me," she said, looking up as she smiled painfully at me.

My eyes welled up with tears as I sat next to her, holding her hands, I said in a trembling voice, "Sick without you? What is he, a hamster or something? Please d-don't go, Unnie. It's only been a month or so since you came here."

Chuckling, she rubbed a tear rolling down my cheek with her thumb, "It's okay, Eun Bi. I won't be there long this time," she said, patting my back reassuringly.

"It's not okay, Eun Byul," mom said, standing up and walking towards us before taking a seat beside Unnie, "You've been there since childhood. And now completing your high school there will take 2 more years. You are not going to America."

"Mom," Unnie said, leaving my hands and turning towards mom, "What are you saying? He's your brother and he has done so much for us. And now he's sick and is just asking me to come back for- and anyways, it won't be 2 complete years. Few months have already passed since the classes started and I'll visit you guys in the holidays," said Unnie in a reassuring tone, "And besides, since I came here, everything has been going down the hill for me," with saying that, Unnie smiled sadly before standing up and going to our room.

Down the hill?

Turning my gaze from Unnie's back to mom, I felt her hand on my shoulder, "Eun Bi, please do something. Please stop her from going."

Gulping, I shook my head to get rid of the unwanted tears, "Don't worry mom, I'll do anything to stop her," standing up, I turned around on my heels and went to our room.

In the room, Unnie was laying on the bed and staring at the ceiling. I plopped down beside her, earning a small smile from her, "Unnie?"

"Hmm?" she asked, glancing at me before turning her gaze towards the ceiling again.

"Why do you want to go back so badly?"

Sighing, she sat up and turned towards me, "I'll tell you as I'll be leaving soon. But promise me first that you won't tell anyone."

I chuckled, "Of course, I won't tell anyone. Promise. Pinky promise?" I smiled, holding up my pinky finger towards her.

Giving me a weird look, she shook her head, "No, thanks. No pinkies winkies."

I pouted before taking a pillow and supporting my elbows on it, my cheeks resting in my hands, "So tell me. What is bugging my mighty Unnie?" I asked, smiling brightly.

Unnie looked down, every inch of her face reflecting seriousness. Looking at the seriousness of the situation, I made a blank face. "It's because I lost a friend," said Unnie, still facing down.
