Chapter 1: Navigate The Dangerous Hall

Start from the beginning

"Now?"

"Yeah. Why not?"

"We're playing video games. I don't know if she even likes video games, Michael."

"Just text her, that's all I'm asking."

"Ugh, errrr... Fine."

Reader's Point Of View

I was sitting at the desk in my bedroom writing on my computer when my phone vibrated.

JEREMY: Hey Y/N! Not sure what you're up to tonight but if you want to hang out with someone, Michael and I are playing video games at my house. You're welcome to join if you'd like :)

I hadn't made any other friends at Middleborough other than Jeremy that day. Not many people like talking to the new girl. I knew that was gonna happen, but it was lonely.

Y/N: Sure! What's your address? I'll be over soon :)

Jeremy's Point Of View

"She said yes." Jeremy said shocked.

"Well don't look so surprised. You're a catch!" Michael said with a smile.

"This was a bad idea. Why'd I listen to you? I'm gonna text her again and cancel."

"No." Michael grabbed Jeremy's phone from his hands.

"Dude, stop."

"No. She's gonna come over, we're gonna play video games and we're gonna have great night. Okay?"

Jeremy went to reach for his phone but Michael pulled away.

"Okay?"

"Okay." Jeremy resigned anxiously.

Reader's Point Of View

I knocked on the front door. Michael opened it and said "Hey Y/N! I'm Michael!" He had the biggest smile plastered on his face. It made me smile. "Hi Michael." I laughed out.

He showed me to Jeremy's room. "Hey Jeremy." I said with a little wave.

"Hey Y/N. Uh- I'm uh glad you could make it." Jeremy said with a nervous looking smile.

"Yeah me too."

"Apocalypse of the Damned?" Michael said, bringing my attention to the screen.

I loved this game. I used to play it all the time in my old town. However it's a two player game and both Jeremy and Michael had the controllers which I assumed meant that I'd be watching.

"Y/N?" Michael called.

"Yeah?"

"You wanna play?"

"Hell yes!" I said, letting my personality begin to shine through my sometimes shy exterior.

He handed me his controller and I looked over at Jeremy. He had a surprised look on his face. "What?" I asked.

"Nothing." He brushed off as he started the game.

10 minutes and 32 kills later, I beat the level they had been stuck on.

"You're welcome." I said over-dramatically making a big deal out of myself.

"Wow." Michael and Jeremy were both in awe at how good I was at the game.

"What? Never seen a girl be badass at video games?" I said as I took a sip of pop from the can with a smile across my face.

This was fun.

I had a feeling Jeremy, Michael and I were going to become good friends after that night was over.

------------------------------------------------

It was almost 2AM by the time I got back home from Jeremy's. I had had such a great time. We spent the whole night just playing video games, cracking jokes, and eating junk food. I had been needing a night like that.

I was so happy to have found Jeremy and Michael.

Maybe this year would be different from my previous years of high school. Maybe I'll actually be noticed and heard, not pushed to the side and ignored this year. For the first time, in a long time, I felt like I was going to have a great school year.

I had a feeling a lot was going to change for me in that year and a lot did. I just never expected it to happen the way it did.
