This time, only Mr. Hannes replied. "Your mother met your father during college. He was a kind, handsome and gentle man, much better than Kenny."
"Oi," Kenny growled darkly, glaring at the blonde man. He calmed his anger as he turned to me and said, "I heard what happened to her. I'm sorry for your loss."
"Yeah..." I replied slowly.
No one spoke for a few moments until Kenny stood up with a huff. "I gotta go. Good luck on the expedition. I'm sure it'll be a real blast."
I nodded, watching him walk away. All of a sudden, my phone started to ring.
Hm?
I picked it up and answered the call, surprised to hear Armin's voice.
"(Y/N), come quick! Eren's gone out, and I've found the notes!"
"Notes?"
"The notes for Dr. Jaeger's second book! It's all here!"
He needn't to say anymore. "I'm on the way. Wait by the door."
I quickly hung up, shoving my phone back in my pocket. "Uhh, Mr. Hannes, Mr. Shadis, I have to go."
Mr. Hannes nodded. "Go on."
I thanked them, quickly running back out into the halls. But before I managed to exit the room, Petra stopped me in my tracks.
"(Y/N), there you are! I was wondering if you wanted to hang out with me and my dad. We're going to get some food together."
My brain racked for a logical reason to decline. "P-Petra, I think it'll be better if you and your father had some quality bonding time together, without me as the third wheel."
"Are you sure?" Petra repeated, "My dad said it'd be fine."
I nodded frantically. "Yes yes, I'm sure! Have fun Petra."
I tossed the last words over my shoulder, quickly running out the door. It only took a few minutes for me to reach the door that led into the boys' dorm, and just like he promised, Armin was there waiting.
He opened the door, and I slipped in quickly. "Took you long enough," he commented.
I sighed. "Petra."
Armin nodded, leading me to Eren's dorm.
"Have you read any of the notes?" I asked, gazing at Armin as he opened the room's door.
Armin shook his head. "No. I wanted to wait for you. Plus, his writing is a total mess, so it isn't exactly easy for me to read it."
"I see."
We entered the room, stopping on the carpet. There, was a whole bunch of scattered notes with questionable handwriting.
Armin sat down, and picked up one of the papers that had the title 'Intro', and handed it to me.
I took it, my eyes squinting as I struggled to read it. But finally, I managed to make out what it said.
This book contains the secrets of werewolves that has been kept a secret for who knows how long.
I am risking everything I have to write this down, but I know the world deserves to know the truth based on the upcoming threat I fear.
Everything I know is from a friend of mine, who goes by KAM.
And KAM, if you're reading this, then I'm sorry, but I believe everyone must know about this.
And that was the end of the paper. I frowned as I realised once again, KAM had been involved.
"KAM was mentioned again," I told Armin, handing him the paper back.
Armin frowned. "Really?"
"Yeah. Apparently, everything Dr. Jaeger knows is from KAM."
"So whoever KAM is, then he or she is definitely a werewolf," Armin summed up.
"I suppose that's one way to put it." I sat down, sighing. "Every lead we have always ends up with KAM. It's like the whole thing revolves around whoever this person is."
"Maybe everything really does?" Armin suggests, making me shrug.
"So Armin, have you found any other information about werewolves?"
Armin nodded. "An Alpha always chooses another wolf as their second in command. That wolf is called the Beta."
"I see."
"A challenger overthrowing the Alpha is the traditional way of getting a new leader, but if the current Alpha dies or steps down and there is no challenger, then the Beta will take the position of Alpha."
"That's... interesting," I commented. "So the Beta is the second strongest werewolf in a pack."
"That's right."
I sighed again. "We know so much about the werewolf hierarchy, but we haven't idea about KAM."
"What if we try interpreting the next page?" Armin suggested.
"Do you even know which one of these is the next page?" I asked flatly.
"..no."
I rolled my eyes and snatched a random paper closest to me.
"Let's see.. what does this say." I cleared my throat as I began to read what could be read. "Werewolves have been on this... earth since hundreds of years ago. Their origins are from two... werewolves who had first appeared on this planet."
"What the.." Armin exclaimed softly.
I continued, "One of the first.. werewolves that ever existed was caused by a... cause?"
"What?"
"Oh wait no, caused by a curse."
Armin's eyes immediately widened at the word curse, his bright blue orbs sparkling. "So it was caused by a curse..."
"Yes, but that's only one of the first werewolves. There were two, remember?"
Armin nodded. "Right. I really didn't expect that there would be two. I thought that there was only one, and that werewolf started a family with some other human."
I nodded, and continued reading. "The other werewolf, was a human that had been given a blushing.., wait no, blessing by the Muun--... Moon Goddess. A gift... of a second life, as a half human, half wolf."
"Wait a minute," Armin cut off, "So you're telling me there were not one, but two werewolves that had suddenly existed on Earth. And that one of them existed because of a curse, and the other was a blessing?"
I put down the page. "Yeah. That's the end of this page."
"W-Well we gotta find the next part!" Armin nearly shouted, throwing himself in the mess of papers.
I too frantically scrambled through all the papers, before completely stopping as I saw a word... no, a name, that was written ever so clearly on one of the papers.
I took it slowly and gazed at it carefully, my hands trembling.
This is...
All of a sudden, the door slammed open, followed by a shocked gasp. Out of reflex, I scrunched up the paper and hid it in my pocket without anyone realizing.
"What the hell is going on here?!"
