Chapter 11:Atlas Blue

Start from the beginning

"I think if you do that my stand with come out. I want you to see my stand. Well I think it's a stand."

After presenting my reasoning, Dio reluctantly used one of his nails to make a cut on my wrist. It stung and the second I let out a small hiss of pain Atlas Blue came out. Immediately vines wrapped around the cut and it healed as if it was never there.

I looked up to Dio and saw his eyes widen at the stand power. But after surprise seemed to follow a rather somber look.

"Why are you acting like that?", I asked with a hint of irritation in my voice. "I thought you'd be happy I wasn't sick anymore. But no, you act like I've sinned against you!"

Dio straightened himself out at my sudden outburst, towering over me with a new look on his face. I clearly struck a nerve.

"Y/n, I am more than delighted you are awake and healthy. Stands however, they come with many troubles. Do not ever accuse me again of not caring for you.", he stood above me as if to intimidate which of course worked. It always did but I knew he wouldn't hurt me. Still I hated when he sized himself up.

"It's called Atlas Blue.", I told him as a way to ease tension and return back to easier conversation.

"Atlas, as in the Titan that holds up the world?", He asked relaxing his posture.

"I'm not sure because it pretty much named itself. But based on the healing powers she has I'd say she does provide support.", the name then began to make a bit more sense.

"I see.", was all Dio said with a small smile of satisfaction on his face. Before I could say anything as a response he leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on my lips.

"You know, I'm glad you're awake.", a blush rose at his words. Sure he would do sweet gestures for me and call me cute names but it felt different. In my time staying here I only believe he's told me twice verbally at least that he loves me. Sure he hadn't just said it but I could feel the love within those words and oh did it make my heart skip beats.

Words didn't seem to be an appropriate response at the moment so I just pulled him into a tight embrace and placed my head on his chest.

It always did somewhat sadden me there was no heartbeat I could really hear or feel but just being in his arms was enough. I couldn't really complain could I?

"May I ask you something?", it came out a bit more quiet than I had expected it to.

"What is it?", Dio asked as a response to my own.

"What is the true reason you've kept me around for so long?", I knew he had said it before but I couldn't help but still feel insecure to live alongside someone as mighty as him. Dio just gave off a godly vibe everyone was a servant compared to him, so what made me any different?

"I've already told you.", he let go of me, he was offended there was no doubt in that.

"I know it's just you've been so vague in your answer. I suppose I would just like specifics.", I said my words carefully hoping not to agitate Dio any further.

"As I said, our fates are intertwined within each others. It is not as the way as mine and Enyaba's. Our connection is much more intimate, almost as equal. Maybe even the two sides of the same coin. We're attached to each other beyond simply having met or our paths crossing. One cannot truly exist without the other.", the last part sent chills to my body. It wasn't said romantically. It was more to the tone of there being danger in it. It was not optimistic sounding.

"I'll never leave your side.", My words were quiet but still determined. Dio chuckled lightly at my statement.

"Your stand- we'll have to train it. You'll need to figure out it's strengths and weaknesses. You'll have to be able to protect yourself. I must go meet with other stand users soon. I promise you'll have the whole night with me after.", Dio left the room as he finished the conversation.

I would be lying if I said it didn't upset me that Dio could not stay with me but this wasn't new either. Business was inportant to Dio. I didn't need to understand what it was about to understand it was important.

As for training I was nervous. What could possibly be the big deal with a stand? Weren't they only meant for protection?

Something was wrong and Dio was hiding it from me. I felt it.

I sat down again on the bed and thought about what could be wrong. I hated him hiding things from me.

I'd find out eventually though, what it was.
