Ace nodded. She sighed,"I knew she made friends with someone, but I never fully assumed Jeff."
Progenitor laughed, I just smiled...thinks were about to get very rough, for sure. No ifs, ands, or buts, about it. How much, I guess we were about to find out.
Progenitor's P.O.V.
Before reaching out to Ace, I was headed back to the circle. My head was much clearer, and I thanked Mist for that. Now the way back was still difficult, as I had to fight a few of Jezebel's dream stealer abominations. I honestly hadn't expected to have to save Shadow. Ghost's only know, what she had been doing out there, fighting these things alone. Though, I guessed I would soon find out, how soon, I hadn't a clue at the time. Foresight had a limit, you could see clear cut, key events, maybe a few events in the future you could alter in your own favor, but you couldn't see all paths at once. So one could only imagine how powerful it was, which was why, when mine had been blocked, I felt so dizzy. At any rate, I ran Shadows aid. I had even managed to get them away from us for a few moments, destroying quite a few of them in the process. However, it seemed like the cycle was never ending, and Shadow looked weaker by the second. I feared now, that I had failed, not only Shadow, as an ally, but Ace. As Ace was to follow in control of the coven, my coven, and was who I considered to be the closest thing I had to a daughter, I felt letting any member of her small family die, a huge burden. I wanted her to have them for as long as time would let them stay. When I was ready to give up, something just destroyed all of them, any that were still alive, went running. "Are you alright?" Echoed a voice, that sounded much smoother than any of our opponents.
I looked up, seeing a creature with cream colored skin, and only patches of grey on the tips of his claws, and spines. He looked very similar to a dream stealer, however I knew he wasn't one. I had only seen this phenomenon twice, in the times when war between heretics had been the most intense. "A dream saver," I mumbled aloud unintentionally,"It has been quite a long time since I have seen one of you."
"A witch, but not like Jezebel," he laughed a little, causing a small blush to heat up my cheeks,"I'm glad to see one. That's what you call me though? I never thought up that one before, but I guess that makes some sense."
I smiled softly, as Shadow looked at the interaction in awe. I shook my head, speaking to her briefly,"I should get you home, to Ace so she can heal you."
Shadow just nodded, snapped out of her trance. Shadow ended up standing dizzily, and when I got her a portal home, closing it so no other ones could follow her, mt gaze returned to the dream saver. They were an anomaly, caused by the little bit of good in a witch who strayed from the intended path. I guessed this was the little bit of love she still had for her dead sister to be this strong. "What's your name child?" I asked feeling a bit more confident in my current situation.
"I go by David," he answered confidently.
I smiled, happily reminded of how each dream saver tended toward wanting to be called by a specific name. A stark contrast to their dream stealer counter parts, who rather be one member of an otherwise nameless horde. "I am Progenitor, it's nice to meet you David," I replied brightly.
David smiled, feeling gratified by the prospect of meeting me. Then the smile faded, I wondered if I had said something wrong, but that wasn't it. "Progenitor...she wants to kill you, and another 'Operator'?" he asked pausing, as I nodded to confirm his term for people in my position,"....an operator, by the name of Slenderman. She wants that done by tonight."
My eyes widened, the last time I had heard Slender's name was 150 years ago, he had been engaged in the same war I was. A war against an Operator that was stepping far out of line. Our history was unknown to most, however we had met once when I had just started as an Operator, or coven leader. He had taught me to resist control from him, and others of his kind, and gave me some of his weaknesses, so if I ever had to, I could fight him. I couldn't deny, that at the time, I may have even started to have feelings for him, but I never did act on them. "David? Do you know if the circle is over run? I'm still getting my understanding of sight back," I asked, slightly embarrassed.
