Then I saw him... Jeremy.
"Jeremy!" I called. "If you can hear me, I promise we'll fix this. I'll get him out of you if it's the last thing I do!"
He squatted down to my level and put his fingers under my chin. "Don't make promises you can't keep darling."
My head was throbbing, pains shooting from my neck.
"Ow, ah. What'd you do to me?" I said. "Ah!"
He didn't say anything to me. All he did was grab my face and look into my eyes before forcefully pushing my head back and stepping away.
Something felt wrong. Something felt off about myself.
My vision began to blur slightly, as I lost focus. I couldn't keep anything in focus. I couldn't think straight.
"I think it's time Jeremy had some time with his girlfriend, don't you agree?" He had a smirk across his face.
"Wha- What?" My words came out slow. I felt drowsy but not like I was gonna fall asleep. It was like I was in a haze.
In the past whenever I'd seen Jeremy my heart warmed up and I couldn't help but smile. Just seeing him made me happy. But now... Things felt different now...
It wasn't love or affection. I was almost on the verge of emotionless empty, but he made me feel disgusted. I felt hatred. I loathed him.
I knew that I had been in love with Jeremy before, but... was that from when the SQUIP was inside me? Were any of those emotions real? Because these ones of distaste that I was feeling in that moment were so strong, they felt real, not manufactured or artificial.
I looked up at Jeremy in disgust.
Jeremy's Point Of View
Jeremy had been in the dark. He had no idea what was going on when he was suddenly at the surface. He blinked his eyes sharply to make sure what he was seeing was real and not some illusion created by the SQUIP.
"Y/- Y/N?" Jeremy said weakly. Soon his vision cleared fully and he felt better. "Oh my god. Hold on. I got ya, I got ya." He said as he rushed over to undo her restraints.
He went to hug her, but she pushed him away. "Get away from me!" She spat, stepping back.
"Y/N, it's me. It's Jeremy. It's actually, really me." He said with caution, moving closer to her.
"I know. So just leave me alone, you freak."
'Freak?' "Y/N, what's going on? What'd he do to you?!"
"Nothing." She stated. "If anything, I'm more me than ever before. That computer's influence has finally left me."
"What're you talking about?" Jeremy was getting more and more confused.
"Those feelings for you that the SQUIP forced on me, are gone."
"The SQUIP didn't force any feelings for me on you. Y/N, I- I thought you liked me. I thought you loved me."
"Loved you?" She laughed. "I loathe you, Jeremy. You're a loser, a waste of space, you mean nothing to me." Jeremy's heart sunk and he dropped his head. "You really thought I, me, was in love with you?" He looked up at her. "Now that's just sad."
See, Jeremy? I told you. She didn't ever love you. She doesn't care about you.
Why waste energy resisting me when the only reason you're fighting is a lie? It's pointless.
It has no purpose. Just like you.
Jeremy started to question everything he thought he knew. Maybe the SQUIP was right. Maybe there was no point in fighting it anymore. All he'd be doing is putting himself in more pain for someone who doesn't give two shits about him. It'd be easier this way.
"But Y/N... I- I love you." He said softly, water filling his eyes.
"And I hate you. You're nothing." She said, before walking away.
Jeremy stood there in awe. What just happened?
Reader's Point Of View
As I walked away from Jeremy I heard a muffled voice from behind me. I turned and saw Michael, tied down with duct tape over his mouth.
It seemed like he was confused and upset, trying to say something to me.
I couldn't keep him in focus and I didn't seem to care about him, or what he was possibly trying to say to me. I just walked right past him as if I hadn't seen him at all.
I left the stage blankly and went into the hallway.
Jeremy's Point Of View
Jeremy's will had never been so weak, so low before.
The SQUIP seized his opportunity to warp Jeremy's mind to his powers.
Jeremy. I think it's time.
I- I- No. I can't.
Oh really?
Jeremy felt a wave of bliss and calmness come over him, letting his defenses down.
Things don't have to be painful Jeremy. They can be like this forever.
The SQUIP showed Jeremy a paradise dreamscape in his mind.
You can have this. You won't have to worry about anything ever again.
Doesn't that sound nice, Jere? So easy and peaceful. To never have to feel anything but calm happiness... Don't you want that Jeremy?
It was almost as if Jeremy was in a trance surrounded by the SQUIP's influence.
Ye... Yes...
That's right. You do.
Let me give that to you, Jeremy. All you have to do is let go.
Let go?
Just relax. Let go. Let me take control of things.
The SQUIP was manipulating Jeremy's mind like clay and it was working. He was so weak and broken from Y/N crushing his heart, it made it easier for him to invade his mind and full being.
Everything Jeremy felt told him to let go. Even breathing the air did. He couldn't escape it.
O- Okay. I- I will.
Excellent. That's what I want to hear. Now, just let yourself go. Hand yourself over to me.
Jeremy did as told, still in the daze of his hypnotic state, he gently fell far from the surface of himself, replaced by the SQUIP.
