"He's right. We have to help Mr. Tumnus." Lucy adds with sad eyes.
My heart hurt for my baby sister. She has such a kind heart but I'm afraid this is way of out our element. Susan had made a good point, mom was already stressed about with father at war. The last thing she needed on her plate was the worries for her children when we were sent away to be safe. I have to keep them safe.
"I'm sorry, but it's time the four of us were getting home," I announce standing up from the table. My head nearly hit the ceiling so I had to duck to look around the room at my siblings, realizing that one was missing, "Ed?"
"Ed!?" Susan shouts, breathing heavier. Her skin had gone pale as she looked at me with fear.
"I'm gonna kill him." I spit in a spike of anger with my fist clenched.
"You may not have to." Mr. Beaver informs me with distress hung low in his voice that only amplified my fears.
I didn't listen to another word as I sprinted out of the dam.
"Hurry!" I screamed to my sisters and our new furry friends behind me.
I searched desperately for any sign of Edmund. I was able to make out a set of footprints in the snow. The weather conditions were quickly filling every print with more and more snow. Time was not on my side. Leave it to Ed to venture off into an unknown land in the middle of the night during the biggest snowstorm I've ever witnessed. I didn't wait time running in the same direction of the trail. Every minute that went by made me more worried for my brother and what kind of trouble his stupid decision could get everyone in.
The trail led to a clearing in the woods. A grand glass castle towering over my head. I came to the realization that it wasn't made out of glass, but ice. That only made me colder and frankly more fearful for my little brother.
"Edmund!" My sisters and I collectively shouted as he neared closer to the glass-looking doors.
"Shh! They'll hear you!" Beaver pounces on my leg to pull me back.
I fight to shake him from my body, "No! Get off! We can't just let him go!"
"He's our brother!" Susan interjects to both the Beavers and I.
"He's the bait!" Beaver informs us, breathless from panic, "The Witch and her daughter want all four of you!"
"Why?" Susan questions sounding like a beg.
"To stop the prophecy from coming true, which would allow her daughter to continue the next era of evil. To kill you!" Beaver explains, desperately trying to keep us from going after our brother.
I stressfully run my hands through my hair, trying to think of a smart solution to just get my family out of here together, in one piece.
"This is all your fault." Susan accuses holding onto Lucy.
I was thankful for her gasp on Lucy because she seemed the most likely to run after Ed, even if she thought she would not be safe.
I turn to her, baffled, "My fault?"
"None of this would have happened if you had listened to me!" She shouts taking a step towards me. "We should have left while we could!"
"Stop it!" Lucy pleads, "This isn't going to help Edmund."
"She's right." I agree with Lucy.
Beaver looks up to us, "Only Aslan can help your brother now."
"Then take us to him," I instruct.
Both beavers look at each other and then back to me nodding eagerly.
