"Yep."
"But what about Sephiroth?" I glare at my sneakers.
"Rufus was working with the Remnants the whole time. I can't believe this," Reno laughs darkly and shakes his head. "And now they're probably going to let us die here and use our bodies for experiments. Hojo's alive somehow, you know."
"But..."
"Sephiroth brought him back for Rufus. Makes me wonder what he could do with Genesis," he shudders. "How's Avalanche?"
"Most likely dead," I shake my head and bite back my tears. "Rufus knocked em all out, not to mention shot Yuffie and Vincent countless times and then crashed the Highwind."
"Wow," Reno shakes his head. "Sick, sick person."
"So what now?" I lean against the wall.
"We wait for someone to save us," Rude finally speaks up. "That, or wait for death."
~Vincent's POV~
Smoke from the flames fills my lungs and I cough. Tifa's unconscious body lies under me as the Highwind falls apart, burning over me and Cloud. He holds Yuffie against him, not minding that her blood is getting all over him, and then he crawls over to, dragging her behind.
"We have to get out of here," he yells over the crunching and crackling.
"Over there," I motion to the part of the deck rail that bent inward on impact. "Try to get under it."
Because he's Cloud and he's so small, and so is Yuffie, they fit through easily. Then in push Tifa out in front of me and try to wiggle my way through. My waist won't fit.... Cloud grabs my arms and pulls me through.
"Thanks," I stand and look behind me at the burning ship.
"We have to get everyone out."
"I know," I pick both girls up, one in each arm, and lay them about one hundred feet away. Then we run for the door, which has already melted down.
"Do you happen to have Leviathan?" I say, rushing for the cockpit to get Cid. I just wish he would wear the water summon for often now that fire seems to be our new enemy.
"No, but I'll make sure to get the materia on the way out."
"Red's in the kitchen. I'll get Barret." I hoist Cid up over my shoulder and grimace. My wound there is still healing, but this is more important. Then I rush for the bunk room, having to jump over fire multiple times. Barret sits just where we left him, but now his eyes are open and he's looking around, confused.
"Yo Vin, what's going on?"
"I'll explain later, we just have to get you off."
"Where's Marlene?" he looks panicked.
"I told you I'll explain later," I grit, leaving the room. He follows, glaring at all the flames. Hopefully he's putting the pieces together about Rufus.
"Cloud!" I call, entering the kitchen. He's not there, but Red's gone, so hurry to the Chocobo barn.
"Let's go," he leaves the room, Red under one arm and the materia chest under the other. At least he'll have a nice surprise for Yuffie...?
"I've got no idea what's goin' on," Barret grumbles before following us out of the ship. Just as Cloud makes it through the door, the ceiling begins to collapse over me and Barret. I force Cid into his arms.
"Go!" I call to him, pushing him ahead. He barrels out the door and the melting metal slides over it before I can leave. I stand still, frozen even in this heat. I'm trapped in a burning airship. Even though the Chaos cells in my body won't allow me to die, I can still feel pain. And the embers falling down on my head are burning my skin awfully. I pull my hot gun out of it's holster and aim for a split panel. It breaks apart and I jam my gun away. Then I leap for the crack, wincing as the bright orange metal melts my glove and heats my gauntlet. Rolling up and out of the Highwind, I jump down and land on my feet, thankfully. Cloud rushes over to me and frowns at my hand.
