"Hey, Lovebirds," Pieces of popcorn come flying at us from my left, courtesy of Ulrich. Yumi is sitting to his left. "We're trying to watch the movie you picked out."
"Rude!" I grab a small handful of my popcorn and throw it back at him. Elliot holds onto my other sleeve. "We're not Lovebirds!"
"Shut up, will you?" William, sitting one seat over to my right, leans forward and throws a small piece of slightly melted ice at Ulrich. "She's not dating anyone."
"Why are you getting defensive?" Ulrich moves out of the way just before it hits his face. "It's not like she's your actual sister."
"So? All I'm saying is that (Y/n) isn't dating anyone." He huffs. "Simple as that."
"Will you two stop fighting like little kids?" Aelita groans. "You're lucky we're the only people in this theater."
"Thank you, Aelita~!" I didn't expect a movie about a bee dating a human girl to make my friends argue about if I'm dating anyone or not. This, strangely enough, reminds me of a certain dating game app. . .
~~~
"Soo, what did you guys think?" I ask as we step out of the theater. The sun is starting to set, the clouds blending in with orange and pink hues.
Odd jumps up and down. "Yeah! Gotta be 'thinking bee' ya'know?"
"I'm surprised that a kid movie like that is actually pretty good. . . " Ulrich folds his arms.
"Woah, did Ulrich say he likes something for once?" Odd fakes a large gasp. "Now, we just need you to admit that you like Yumi!"
Out of everything Odd has said in the past few hours, I don't think that was the smartest thing. Yumi and Ulrich took turns, punching Odd on his arm in the same spot.
"I think it's weird that a girl dumped a guy for a bee, but whatever." William shoves his hands in his pockets. "I'm not one to intrude in people's love life."
"Hey, shut up, Will." He glares at me. I return the look. Our staredown doesn't last long because his stoic face breaks into something softer. I grin as he pops up the collar of his jacket in an attempt to hide his failure of a frown.
"Oh, wow! You got William to smile, (Y/n)?" Odd exaggerates another gasp. "What kind of magic do you possess!?"
I shrug my shoulders. "I don't know, a decent sense of humor?" Elliot giggles. I'm glad he's feeling more at ease around everyone.
Beep! Beep! Beep!
All eyes land on me. I sigh and lead Elliot to a nearby bench. I sit down beside him and rest my head on his shoulders. "I-Is it Xana?" He asks.
I nod. "Yeah, I think so. It's too bad, kinda wanted to take a nap after this. Hopefully, it's only a problem on Lyoko and not Earth."
Elliot lets out a shaky sigh and gently squeezes the palm of my hand. I look back at Odd, he forms an 'x' shape with his arms and shakes his head.
I groan and stand up. "Ugh, okay. I think you should hurry on home and lock your doors. You never know what Xana can do."
"W-Wait one moment." Elliot stands up beside me, pulling a small box out of his bag. "I was going to give this to you as a thank you gift for becoming friends with me, b-but I think you need it more now."
I take the box from him and unwrap it to reveal a brand new iPhone. I gasp at the sight of it. "Elliot! How did you-"
"Don't worry about it now; I'll tell you later when you save the world, okay?" He pulls me into a hug. "Please be careful tonight!"
"I'm as careful as it gets~!" I grin and return the hug. He's hesitant to leave but does so in a hurry. Once out of sight, I jog back over to the group with a small huff. "So, what's the damage?"
"Where do I even begin?" Jeremie sighs. Aelita rests her hand on his shoulder. "Xana has sent a few Tarantulas to Earth that are letting out some sort of neurotoxic gas that's spreading quicker than I'd like. If we don't hurry and deactivate the tower soon, all of France is going to be affected within a few short hours."
"Okay, other than destroying the monsters, isn't there something else we can do to stop it from spreading?" Yumi questions.
"Not unless we can freeze it in some way, then no." Aelita shakes her head. "I don't think so."
"Oh! What about a gas mask?" Odd suggests. "Like the ones they wear in war movies?"
"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea." Ulrich agrees. "Just one problem, where are we going to find those on such short notice?"
"My Uncle gave me a bunch not too long ago," William says. We all must've made a similar expression towards Will. I mean, who exactly has a working gas mask just lying around? "He was just going to donate them all, and I thought I could put them to good use. Guess I was right."
"Whatever." Jeremie slips his laptop back into his bag. "Let's hurry back to the dorms and grab the mask. We'll figure out more on the way."
