“T-t-toby…. Y-y-you need to meet us at the hospital…..” Her voice definitely sounded broken, and that scared Toby.
“W-why? D-did something happen at the party? Is Spence alright?!” Toby asked desperately, although he had already figured out the answer, something was very wrong.
“N-n-n-o, I-I don't know how to tell you this…. B-but somehow A found out where we were and when none of us were looking A had s-slipped s-something in Spencer's drink… w-we didn't realize until she started getting really dizzy and lightheaded a-and then the worst possible thing happened…..”
Toby's heart literally stopped in that moment.
“W-what happened?!” He asked desperately.
“S-s-she h-had a seizure Toby…” Emily managed to get the words out before breaking down crying again, meanwhile Toby felt like his whole world had just been blown to bits.
“O-oh my God… I-i'm on my way.” He said before hanging up and then he left the station in a hurry not bothering to tell anyone what was going on, all he cared about was getting to Spencer.
Sitting in the hospital waiting room was becoming pure agony for Toby, it wasn't bringing back very good memories at all, and all he could think of was the very real possibility that Spencer wouldn't survive this and that scared the heck out of him, Spencer has never had a seizure before and God only knows what A put in her drink, as much as he wishes he could have been there to hold her and comfort her because she knows she must've been scared out of her mind and tell her to stay with him, a small part of him is glad that he didn't have to witness her being in so much pain like that because he's sure he wouldn't have been able to hold himself together and from what Emily told him it was pretty terrifying.
“We're so sorry Toby.” Aria said and Toby looked at her and shook his head. “Don't be so hard on yourself, I'm the one that should've been there.” He said and Emily grabbed his hand comfortingly. “Toby we've been over this, it's not your fault and Spence wouldn't want you blaming yourself for what happened, the girls and I were the ones that were there with her, it was a huge party we should've been paying more attention.” She said and Toby sighed before putting his head in his hands.
“Let's just focus the blame on who's fault it really is, A.” He said and the girls nodded.
“Yeah A was the one that drugged her drink but Em is right we should've been paying more attention.” Alison said. “Seeing her like that…” Hanna said before stopping and trying to hold back her tears. “That's something I never want to see again.” Aria said. “Agreed, when she makes it through this we have to make sure to protect her better and make sure this doesn't happen again.” Emily said and Toby looked at her with tears falling down his face and she wished that there was something she could do but she knows the only thing that would help would be is if he could see Spencer but that's not possible right now because she's still in surgery, Emily puts her head in her hands and ignores when Toby puts his hand on her shoulder comfortingly and she tries to erase the nights events from her mind.
Four Hours Earlier at the party
“Come on Spence, at least try and have a little bit of fun.” Hanna said receiving a sigh from Spencer, which was kind of hard to hear over the loud music. “I already told you I'm not really in the mood to party right now Han.” Spencer said. “I'm sorry Toby couldn't come.” Emily said. “I'm not mad, I just miss him.” Spencer said before taking another sip of her drink.
“You know that he loves you no matter what Spence.” Alison said. “I know that, I just wish that he was here right now.” Spencer said before looking down at the floor and Aria put her hand on her shoulder comfortingly. “Come on Spence, there's gotta be something that would cheer you up.” Aria said sweetly but the brunette just shook her head. “I think that maybe I should just go back to the loft and wait for Toby to get home.” Spencer said. “Come on you have to stay!” Hanna said. “Han I'm really not in the mood anymore, besides we've already been here for quite a while and I think I'm pretty much all partied out.” Spencer said.
