Speaking of teleporting, said villain appeared in front of me, catching me off guard. I attempted to fire a shot but his fist collided with my cheek, my shot missed and feet stumbling backwards. My eyes watered, making my surroundings barely visible.
I retaliated, throwing a punch myself. Missing the hit, I twisted my body, kicking his side. As his body bent over in pain, I took this opportunity to push him over, pinning him on the ground.
A cold wind, almost freezing, blew over us, goosebumps running through my body. To my surprise, the villain was encased in ice, the only hole was the one exposing his face. I got off the villain, whose bewilderment was coupled with pure shock. Only one person could do this.
"(Y/N)!"
I turned to see a worried Shoto running in my direction, his breathing so heavy that even I could hear it. A wave of relief washed over me, a small smile appearing on my face. I jumped up, running towards him before gripping his forearms.
"Shoto? What...what are you doing here?" The adrenaline was dying down, eyelids growing heavy and my muscles sore, but the relief was all I felt.
His grip on my forearms was tight, like he was afraid that if he were to let go, I'd see my doom. His eyes scanned me up and down, his mouth agape and panting.
"I...I came to find you...A-are you okay?" He asked, his grip tightening. I swear, I could feel his hands shaking.
"I'm fine...yeah I'm fine." I loosened my grip, Shoto doing the same. I turned to the villain, who was still encased in ice. "What are we gonna do with him?"
Before Shoto could get a reply across, the ground beneath us shook.
Oh. Oh no.
The ground rose beneath us, lifting us up on a pillar of earth. We knelt to avoid losing our balance, Shoto gripping my arm once again. The pillar allowed us to see the tops of trees, as well as the flames that were sweeping through them.
Shoto let go of my arm, standing upright once the pillar stopped rising. He reached out his hand for me to take, which I took whilst steadying myself.
"You okay?" Shoto asked, still gripping onto my hand.
"I should be asking you that. Aren't you scared of heights?" I could feel his hand shaking.
"Yeah..." he muttered, my ears barely picking up on it.
"Alright, reunion's over."
An arm swung around my neck, trapping me in a chokehold. Instincts led my arms to grip the one that was holding me.
"(Y/N)!" Shoto exclaimed, preparing to freeze the guy.
"Don't move." Daggers rose from the ground, their sharpened ends pointed at Shoto.
"I don't want to kill anybody, don't allow yourself to be the exception," the villain spoke, his hold tightening. I gulped, racking my brain for a solution.
'Ok, just think back to training with Ojiro... what did our sensei teach us again?' Shit, that goes completely out the window once you're actually in the situation.
I breathed in, trusting that my instincts would do me some good.
Gripping the villain's arms, I heated up my palms, making him flinch. I took this opportunity to turn to face him, grabbing his elbows to immobilise his arms.
Pushing him back towards the edge, the daggers turned to point at me instead. The villain let out a grunt, the daggers flying at me.
I squinted, preparing for a painful end, but was pleasantly surprised with a wall of ice stemming from the ground behind me, edges hanging over us. I'll have to thank Shoto later.
