Today Will Be Better.

Start from the beginning

You believe they call him Bellamy.

He's a little older than you so you don't see him during your classes, thankfully but he does always act out if you pass him in a hallway. Often tripping you up with his foot or throwing something at you, name-calling - he's not above any of that stuff.

"Sorry, parent-killer. I must've lost my grip." The blonde rumbles from behind, drawing a few chuckles from other students but then something unexpected catches your ears. A slap...no, it sounds more like a fist clapping against his jaw rather than a palm against his cheek.

The noise shuts Bellamy up regardless and is followed by the sound of clattering chairs.

Turning your head slowly, the first thing your cloudy orbs rest on is a smile, a smiling boy. You then notice his pink hair and then, the scar shaped slightly like a cross on his forehead.

"You went down so easily, Bellamy. With your reputation, I was expecting more of a challenge." The pinkette chimes, his voice is soft yet also deep.

Gazing into my eyes, when the fire starts

and fan the flame so hot it melts our hearts.

All the pouring rain, will try to put it out,

but not this time.

You then notice the blonde bully, he's desperately trying to scramble back to his feet as the other students laugh at his misfortune, his face as red as a strawberry.

"The hell is wrong with you, Koby?! Don't you know that girl you're defending killed her own parents?!"

"Get lost, Bellamy." The pinkette calmly murmurs, he's still smiling and looking content but there's a slight flare in his eyes, one that promises he'll make the bully regret it if he doesn't leave.

Once the school jerk has made it to his feet, he's quick to scarper.

The pinkette otherwise known as 'Koby' taking a seat beside you on the cafeteria bench, his smile widening into a cheerful grin. "Mind if I sit here?"

Let your colours burn,

and brightly burst into a million sparks,

but all dispersed and illuminate a world,

that'll try to bring you down,

but not this time.

"Why did you help me?" Your question stuns the boy beside you for a brief moment but he's quick to chuckle softly, you can feel people watch your every move and a few of their whispers reach your ears.

You hate the sound, you can't tell what they're saying, it just sounds like hushed tones all merging together. The atmosphere causes your skin to burn, your face flushing with embarrassment as you desperately try to focus your sights back on your food.

I feel like I'm going to throw up...

"Haven't you guys got anything better to do?" Koby questions, his sights now resting on a large group of students that are staring at you both intensely, their gazes soon turning away at his words though and focusing back on their meals, homework or friends, each to their own.

They're clearly afraid of getting the same treatment that Bellamy got.

A thousand heartbeats beating at a time

and makes this dark planet come alive

So when the lights flicker out tonight,

you gotta shine.

"Now," The pinkette resting a gentle palm against your back with a sweet glimmer in his eyes, that adorable smile never wavering in the slightest. You grimace slightly at the thought that he probably just got chocolate milk all over his hand from such a gesture but if he did, it doesn't seem to be bothering him at all. "To answer your previous question, I helped you because you don't seem like a bad person as far as I can tell."

He's so friendly...

"My name's Koby, what's yours?"

"Uh...[F/n]..." Your response is short and wary, your orbs still staring at the male in disbelief before a smile slowly tugs at your lips, a warm feeling washing over you.

It has been 2 long years since you've smiled, since that car accident left you dim-heartened and depressed.

But that heavy weight is finally starting to feel lifted, all because of one kind gesture.

"Nice to meet ya, [F/n]! Is it okay if I sit with you every lunchtime from now on?" There's a protective layer to his voice, the boy clearly worried as he reaches over and plucks some napkins from the centre of the table before handing them to you so that you can properly wipe that chocolate milk away from your face, your hair and clothes are doomed though. "It'll be fun, I promise!"

"Why are you so eager to be in my company?"

"I guess...because you're pretty."

What?!

Well, one thing's for sure...

Today was better.

Brighter than a shooting star,
Shine no matter where you are, tonight.
