"Uhm Dan... can you let me in please? I want to go to bed." The halfa asked, knocking repeatedly on the doors.

"Only one bed, you have to stay outside." Dan chuckled form the inside of the room. Danny wanted to kick the door out but it wouldn't be respectful of him to destroy this ancient palace so instead, he slid down the wall and hugged his knees.

Hours have passed by now and nobody let him inside. Danny has lost all his hope for getting inside so he lied on his side, back on the wall and closed his eyes. Few passing footsteps could be heard but it wasn't enough to wake Danny from his slumber. During those few hours, he learned that only the new recruits made walking sounds, the more experienced ones walked soundlessly by him. He wouldn't notice them if he wasn't looking right at their feet.

The following morning was nothing pleasant for the young halfa. His shoulder, neck and back hurt from the cold and hard ground he was forced to sleep on. The small connection with Dan that was there has disappeared. Again.

"Time for training peasant!" The ghost barked as he saw his human part sitting by the wall.

"Why are you treating me like this? I thought that things had changed between us!" Danny accused the adult who just glared down at him.

"It's a part of the training. You would know that if you were worth it." The ghost hissed and pushed Danny aside. Even without his enhanced strength, Dan's worked muscles were enough to throw Danny to the ground.

"Then I don't want to join the training." Danny whimpered, taking out a huge splinter from his elbow.

"You must." Dan replied dryly and lifted Danny by the collar of his shirt. The ghost dragged the helpless human across the half of the temple before they arrived to their final destination. The courtyard.

Already dressed assassins in training were slowly gathering in the middle, patiently waiting for their instructor. The instructor was no one else than the Demons right hand Ubu.

First hour was just standing while the trainer spoke about everything. Katanas were assigned to each recruit.

"I believe in training on the move but sharp katanas, isn't that too much?" Danny murmured to himself. He got so unlucky, one of the guards heard him. Not knowing what was going to happen, the halfa was dragged by the scruff into the corner of the courtyard. The single man didn't seem threatening, but things changed when he unsheathed his sword.

"This will teach you silence." The assassin spat in his face. With no time to process everything that was happening, Danny found himself on the ground in torn clothes and severely bleeding. The guard wasn't there, leaving Danny to deal with his injuries.

There was no point in keeping on his torn t-shirt so he took it off and tore it into small pieces of cloth. He used them to safely wrap his injuries, stopping himself from bleeding out the first day.

Danny didn't join the training afterwards, he just stood in the shadows, watching everything. Approximately three hours later, it was time for their meal. The halfa walked in the back of his training group, staying hidden. Again, he didn't get lucky and the same guard spotted him, pulling him aside.

"No dinner for rule breakers." He chuckled deeply and tossed Danny towards the living area. With growling stomach and stinging wounds, Danny slowly walked towards their bedroom.

"Oh I nearly forgot, this is your room." The guard tossed him a small key with a number 153 written on it. The room 152 was their room, at least he will have a place to sleep.

Danny didn't even have the opportunity to 'enjoy' his free time when Dan flew angrily towards him.

"I can't even have a decent meal here." Dan shouted, hovering high in the air.

"I have to get to my room." Danny mumbled with hung head.

"I heard that the guard gave you one. In my opinion a waste of space. Never mind, I don't need to eat." The ghost flew down to the ground and made his way to his room with Danny trailing far behind.

Wait, there was no room 153. Dan's room was the last in the line. The day got worse and worse for the halfa with each passing minute.

"I can't sleep outside. Too cold." Danny mumbled to himself as he slid down the wall for the time being. Everyone who has passed him didn't even look down at the hurt boy sitting alone.

"Get yourself together Daniel!" Danny screamed at himself angrily. "You won't let a ghost decide your life! Kick out the door!" With a wave of anger and confidence, Danny kicked hard on the doorknob, breaking the lock.

"Voilá, the doors open." The halfa stepped in with a triumphant smile on his face. When they first arrived, Danny didn't even have the opportunity to look at their bedroom. It left him in shock to see a wooden bed with one blanket and a pillow. The mornings will hurt like hell.

"I'm staying here." Danny said in a demanding voice. The ghost lifted his head in a lazy manner, giving a short glance to the person who broke his door.

"What makes you think that?" Dan asked with a cocky attitude. "You're only a mere human after all."

"Am not!"

"But if you wish..." the ghost motioned to a free corner and threw the blanket on Danny. "So you won't freeze to death."

With a confused expression, Danny slowly walked to his corner and wrapped himself in the sheet Dan threw at him. Silent tears streamed down his cheeks as he was slowly realizing his huge mistake. He should have stayed with Jason, they could have left the manor if he asked for it, but no. He jumped at the first offer of 'home', not caring about the consequences.
