"And this matter had to be discussed before the light of day, when Streaks over there could have asked me about it at work in a few hours?" I replied indignantly. "Well considering you are new to the area and you don't know the dangers of these woods, I thought it would be a service to take this place off your hands." Bowen said and I couldn't help the soft scoff leaving my lips as the alpha boy drew out his wallet. You have got to be kidding me, was this idiot for real? "I'd be willing to pay double the amount it cost you to cover any inconvenience it might bring you and..." I once again cut him off with a snort and I swear I heard him grind his teeth at the interruption.

"I'm going to stop you right there, I don't want your money. I have no intention of selling this place, and I don't give a d*** about any rumours surrounding these woods." I state unimpressed to his stare. "We're only trying to consider your and everyone else's safety." Bowen rumbled out. "Ha! This coming from the guy who's initials are literally BS. Listen here Bowen Shaw and the rest of you, the answer is NO. N. O. NO. The place is not for sale, if you only came here to buy my land then you can shove your little offer up your chauvinistic a** and get off my property!" I growled back at him and watched as he faltered. He was an alpha male after all, alpha males were not used to being told no, this one obviously was no different.

"You can't talk to us like that you little b****!" The chocolate skinned warrior male stepped forward, Beck I think they called him. "And you are?" I huffed out my annoyance, they should have left by now. "Beckett and we did come here for something else, we were curious if you've seen any wolves recently?" His tone was a growl as everything fell silent around us, I cocked my head at him curiously. If they we're suspecting me of something I wasn't going to give them the satisfaction, after all I could be a great little actress when I wanted to be.

"Around here no, but there is Spartan back at the sanctuary. Sad to say it but if you've seen a wolf around it's probably some wolf dog that some idiot set free because they couldn't care for them properly. Why do you ask?" I huffed out with a curious frown, silently noting the look all of them shared. "Well we've seen some signs on our property and we wanted to make sure our new neighbor was safe, I'm Colton Jones by the way." The beta male with dark brown hair stepped forward to try deflecting the new tension in the air. "Are you sure it wasn't a coyote?" I voiced on a snort as I crossed my arms.. "We know what a d*** coyote looks like, this wasn't one of them!" Beckett snapped out.

"Well then I can't really help you, I mean after all if you live as far in the woods as I do then you get used to the wildlife. I have to say we are trespassing on their territory, so it's only fair they come trespassing on ours." I shrugged nonchalantly, but knowing full well the message I was silently giving off. They trespassed first, I only returned the favor, and now here we were on MY land discussing it. "Now if you'll excuse me I've got to get ready for work, see you later Streaks!" I called with a wave. I ordered my pets inside as I turned my back on the group of males, disregarding the natural instinct to never turn your back on the enemy. I knew the simple action would invite the beasts in them to attack, but lucky for them they had better control than most males I'd met before.

                                             Bowen

I could only stare after the girl dumbfounded as she turned her back on a pack of predatory wolves, she actually had the gall to slam her door in our faces. "I told you there was something different about her." Gavin mumbled just loud enough for all of us to hear. "Yeah and you weren't kidding she is f***ing crazy, I mean she turned me down, me!" Micah puffed out as we loaded into the two vehicles. I had to admit it was interesting and amusing watching the strange and attractive younger girl reject his advances.

Micah wasn't used to rejection coming from the female population, but then again I wasn't used to such blatant rejection at all. The way her hazel eyes had blazed at me, not wavering from my own powerful gaze. The way she had interrupted me not once but twice, and then her rude refusal, it had me whirling in anger one second and frowning in confusion the next. One moment she was being kind and caring towards my third in command and the next she was looking ready to snap my head off or something, I didn't know what to make of the strange young woman.

She quite clearly was not afraid of us like most humans and she genuinely seemed confused when Beck asked her about seeing wolves in the area. I couldn't stop analyzing every one of her actions or her words in my thoughts as we headed back for the pack house, I couldn't seem to get her off my mind. She was a challenging female and everything about her had me rising with interest about just who this Sidney Blake really was? Whoever she was she had blatantly challenged me, it was game on now and I had no intention of backing down, I was an alpha after all.
