Chapter 6

"Should I go buy a pint of ice cream in preparation for the inevitable or did you want to do that part?" You teased, snatching the remote out of her hands.

"I like to get it myself, pick the flavor in the moment you know?" She teased back as she got to her feet, "We should get going now anyways, come on Min Min"

Ji-ae scooped Min-Jun into her arms from where he was playing with his blocks, attacking the boy with kisses.

His loud squeal and laughter in response making you smile adoringly at your two favorite people.

Once you had arrived at the restaurant Ji-ae was quick to order two glasses of Chardonnay, announcing that it was for a special occasion.

"Does attending all your classes for a full week count as something to celebrate?" You laughed, cutting up the chicken nuggets on Min-Jin's plate.

"Considering it's the first time in a year? Hell yeah it does!" She piped up happily.

You narrowed your eyes at her.

"Heck yeah, I mean... heck"

Nudging your best friend and clinking your glass against hers you downed the wine, raising your hand to call the waiter over for another round when Ji-ae's phone started to ring.

You watched as she pulled it out of her clutch, her face changing from neutral to panicked at the sight of the caller ID.

"Who is it?" You asked curiously, tilting your head at her.

"N-no one" She squeaked back as she got to her feet, "I'll be right back!"

And with that she practically ran outside, your gaze following as she did so.

You watched in confusion as she paced outside the glass windows of the restaurant, looking like she was arguing with someone.

"Mommy look!"

Your attention immediately taken by your son as you looked over, a giggle escaping your lips at the mess all over his face.

"It's all over your face little Mochi!!" You cooed, wiping the crumbs from his chubby cheeks.

"It's yummy!" He announced, lifting his last nugget up and offering it to you.

"Thanks baby, but you eat it okay! So you grow up nice and strong!"

Min-Jun scrunched up his face as he flashed his muscles at you, prompting you to clap for him as he inhaled the last piece of his meal.

You looked out of the window again to see Ji-ae still pacing outside the window.

"My moneys on Auntie JiJi having boy problems again" you mumbled to your son, who was paying zero attention to you and 100% towards the remainder of his meal.

"Excuse me Miss"

You looked up at the waiter who was now stood over your table.

You eyes flashed down the bottle of Cristal Champagne being placed in front of you and the dinosaur balloon in his hands.
