elemental ? n. m.

Once we moved to Elena's bedroom, Elijah spoke, "Forgive the intrusion. I mean your family no harm."

I hummed at how he showed it, although I knew that what he said was the truth. I sat on Elena's windowsill, staring out at the merging colors of the sunset. Those were my favorite color, if that made sense, because it reminded me of how we all have different magic in us that makes something bigger than ourselves.

Elena questioned him, "Why did you kill those vampires when they tried to take me?"

"Because I didn't want you to be taken." He sighed, "Klaus is the most feared and hated of the Originals, but those that fear him are desperate for his approval. If word gets out that the doppelgänger exists, there'll be a line of vampires eager to take you to him and I can't have that."

Something about this hit me the wrong way. Niklaus seemed to be a very misunderstood individual. And sure, he was a very murderous being, even for an Original vampire at that, but I don't see how he would have simply killed all of his siblings. I was enraged at the thought, and hoped it was wrong. But Elijah told no lies.

"Isn't that exactly what you're trying to do?" Elena made a good point, if Elijah were on his brother's side, but alas.

"Let's just say that my goal is not to break the curse." Elijah hinted.

"So, what is your goal?" I almost couldn't help the laugh at my throat from escaping. This girl really does believe she can get all the answers she wants from anyone.

Elijah looked slightly disheartened as he looked at the ground and answered, "Klaus's obsession has made him paranoid. He's a recluse. He trusts only those in his immediate circle."

"Like you?"

"Not anymore."

Elena's mind seemed to piece some of the puzzle together, "You don't know where he is, do you? So you're trying to use me to draw him out."

I felt a little bit of guilt just at the truth in her words. She really was just a child. And because of some family problems her life along with others were being risked.

Elijah says, basically ignoring Elena's claims, "Well, to do that I need you to stay put and stop trying to get yourself killed."

"How do I know you're telling the truth?"

I cut in, "You don't. But at least this is one more way for you to not end up dead, correct?"

Elijah continued, "If I wasn't being truthful, all your family would be dead and I'd be taking you to Klaus right now. Instead, I'm here and I'm prepared to offer you a deal."

I snort, "Also that."

Elena says, "What kind of a deal?"

"Do nothing." Elijah concedes, "Do nothing, live your life, stop fighting and then, when the time is right, you and I shall draw out Klaus together and I shall make sure your friends remain unharmed." I can't help but feel that somebody would surely get involved in the crossfire of it all.

Elena bites her lip nervously, "And then what?"

Elijah presses a hand against his suit jacket, almost in comfort of himself, "Then I kill him."

Elena raises her brow, "Just like that?"

Elijah nods, "Just like that. I'm a man of my word, Elena. I make a deal, I keep a deal."

My nod at his words gets noticed by the girl standing in front of me.

Elena continues, her doubt showing, "How are you gonna be able to keep everybody safe?"
