When you said that, you knew, that this was a debate between you and Light and the detectives would take action according to whom they believed.

You couldn't lose this battle...

You weren't quite sure how far you should go, though. You did betray the Japanese Task Force because their leader was dead, probably killed by their current leader who is probably the murderer that they are after. If this continues, then Kira will never be caught because he is leading his investigations away from himself. But because of your betrayal and work with a different organization without the knowledge of the task force, you got very close to finding out if Light was back on the Top-suspects list or not. This would make such a huge difference and put a bigger suspicion on him since the note has been manipulated to his benefit. This would suggest that he either knows Kira or he is Kira...

You also had your own reasons to suspect Light of being Kira that the other detectives didn't know of, such as the incident with Naomi.

But you had no idea that Light also has his reasons to suspect you. Your own mistakes that have been turned against you by Light. This was just the beginning of the big encounter between you and Kira. One that would determine the end and maybe vanish your life's flame and reunite you with L in the endless darkness that awaits beyond the veil...

"No, I can't prove that yet...." Light replied. "But that is not the only thing I have against you." He attacked you back. "In fact, I got enough to put you behind bars." He provoked.

You didn't know if he was trying L's technique of messing up with you to a point where he could control you or not, but it definitely started to work.

You panicked.

But stayed quiet.

"And what's that, if I may ask?" You first wanted to hear what he got before thinking about what you could do or say back to him and how much you could reveal.

"Let's start with when you first came to Japan." Light started and had the focus of everyone in the room. Even Ryuk was quietly listening to Light speaking. Usually, he would throw random comments, but not this time. "You came to Japan around the time when the killing started. Shortly after the killing got published to be precise. You got into the University to study law enforcement and criminal justice to become a detective, but you haven't attended the University at all. This made me question what made you come to Kanto and what you have been doing in the meantime instead..." Light paused to give you time to explain. "The real reason I came here was for the Kira case. I wanted to be as close to as possible to Kira to investigate while attending University. But I got caught up in my investigations that I ended up putting the studying completely aside..." You explained and left the part that you and L met. You didn't want to mention that yet.

"Last winter around the time where L started working with the Task Force, I met a woman who came to the police station to speak to my father about the investigation. She was the fiancé of one of the FBI agents who were killed by Kira. She said she had something important concerning Kira, that she needed to share with the investigators. We walked for a while before she left. Her name was Naomi Misora. When I went back to the station a man informed me that a young woman came in and she wanted to speak urgently to Naomi Misora. That woman who came left her number for Naomi. This number matches the one you used to call Hideki. Naomi has not been seen since that day and you may have been the last one who saw her." Light suspected you.

"Naomi Misora was my leader in some practical training I did back in the US. On that same day, I saw you walking with her mentioning to her that you were working with L and the Task Force, which you -at this point- did not. A while later I got lost and met her again. I wanted to speak to her, but she seemed hypnotized. She walked and just left. I suspect Kira of manipulating her into disappearing, maybe killing herself, I don't know. But in this case, you are the one who I suspecting of being Kira." You weren't sure if it was the right time to reveal what you knew about Light or not, but if you didn't say it now in front of the whole Taskforce, then when?
