Chapter 30 - How do one make that choice?!

"Yes of course, my apologies Miss Taylor" the doctor said and I just rolled my eyes, I don't mean to be rude to the doctor but his been nothing but a pain, he takes his job way to seriously.

"I'm afraid I have some bad news" the doc said and when I looked at him, he looked sympathetic and I got worried instantly... My baby?

"Is it the baby, is everything okay with my baby?" I asked the doctor frantically, sitting up straighter on the bed.

"No no, everything is fine with the fetus, the pregnancy isn't the problem. I'm afraid you have a rare medical condition, one that co-" the doctor was busy explaining when I cut him off, not wanting to hear this whole story again because I know everything there is to know about my disorder.

"Doctor I know I'm a hemophiliac, no need to make it so dramatic, I know all about it, I had it since I was born" I said to the doctor with a nonchalant shrug because it's something I dealt with for all my life.

"You know?" The doctor asked surprised but then he took a step forward almost like his about to tell me a secret. "So you know that you have type A hemophilia, and that It's a rare form for you as a female to have such a severe blood disorder?" The doctor asked still in his surprised voice.

"Doctor, of course I know! I have been injecting myself for as long as I can remember, so yes I know exactly what I am" I said annoyed because this happens everytime, and since I'm a female with this disorder, I'm every physician's dream.

"I'm sorry miss Taylor, I had a feeling when I saw the amount of blood you've lost for a flesh wound, that it had something to do with hemophilia, and as you're doctor I have to warn you, and I'm sure your Obstetrician-gynecologist would give you the same warning and of course options because this early in the pregnancy you still have options" the doctor was rambling on and on, almost as if this conversation was somewhat uncomfortable for him to even speak of so I had to cut him off.

"Doctor could you get to the point already" I said annoyed, already not liking where he was going with this.

"I'm sorry, what I'm trying to say is that, this pregnancy can be fatal to you. The amount of blood you would lose during and after birth would kill you, this baby is a risk to you" the doctor said and I took a deep breath, sure I knew this would come eventually because it's one of the things my doc in LA warned me about, pregnancy is something I should avoid but I knew someday I would want to take that risk because what woman doesn't want to be a mom? That's why I never got myself sterilized.

"I know this must be a lot to take in but we still have options, I can speak to Dr Jacobs and we can make an appointment so we can prevent this from happening..." The doctor was busy, when I cut him off immediately because I knew what he was trying to say.

"If you're trying to tell me to abort my child, then don't bother! I'm definitely not doing that, so I would suggest you go and speak to Dr Jacobs and come up with a plan to prevent my baby from suffering during this pregnancy and during birth, he or she is your only concern, not me and my health" I gritted out so he can see that I'm dead serious and he just shook his head.

"And doctor, don't let me remind you of doctor patient confidentiality, you cannot share your findings with anyone unless I say so, and I'm telling you now, I don't want anyone to know!" I said seriously and he raised his eyebrow, almost as if his challenging me to fight him on this, much like Dante sometimes would.

"I'm sorry miss Taylor but as you might know by now, this isn't an ordinary hospital and I am obligated to give my bosses a full report on each and every patient I see to, especially those that are apart of the family, so this is non negotiable" the doctor said with shrug annoying me even more.
