"Relax," you assured her, raising your servos innocently over your helm, "if I wanted either of you hurt I wouldn't've helped ya out." Arcee reluctantly transformed her weapons to servos and put them on her hips.
"Who are you?" She asked.
"Y/N," you answered. Your wings hiked up with your confidence over the situation. The human and bot exchanged looks. Oh right, your name. It was too human sounding for your new alien body. The two didn't comment on it.
You figured if you got to know them better you'd tell them the truth, considering your femme-crush-Friday seemed like a person who's trust was hard to win. If you told her upfront, she probably wouldn't believe you. As for the boy, you didn't know how he's react yet.
"I'm Jack," the boy introduced himself with a small wave. He pointed to the femme. "That's Arcee."
"Pleased to make your acquaintance. Tracking energon?"
Arcee squinted her optics suspiciously at you. The grip on her hips tightened. "How'd you know we were tracking energon?"
"'Cause I got an energon signal coming from 'round here. I think I can correctly assume that the Cons were after it too," you explained, talking with your servos. "I know where it is. C'mon, I'll show ya!"
"How do we know it's not a trap?" Arcee asked. You still had not been relieved of her scrutinizing gaze.
"Uuuh," you looked for a way to answer. "You don't, I suppose, but you'll just have to take my word for it. This way, if you may." You began walking, and motioned with your servo for them to come along.
Jack shrugged at his partner and followed. She did the same with a huff. You could hear the two muttering about your trustworthiness and badgelessness. Jack seemed to be the optimistic here.
You remembered when you'd been observing Arcee fight that she had been doing her best to keep the Cons away from Jack. When he'd been threatened, she'd looked completely panicked for those brief seconds before you'd saved him. He meant something to her. You could also understand that because he was human, he squished easier under all the giant robots, so that was also a reason to be protective. If you stayed as a positive figure in his mind, you figured, then maybe you could win over Arcee.
You wanted to get to know her better. You wanted to know if her personality was as beautiful as her fighting and acrobatic skills. You kept your processor open to anything, keeping out idolizations and predetermined expectations. At the very least, you'd like to be allies with the femme if she rejected your advances.
Soon enough, you led the duo to a cave.
"Is this it?" Jack asked, his eyes darting around.
"Should be," you answered, recalling the computer map.
Arcee glanced around. You heard her say something, and out of the corner of your vision, saw the teenager hide behind her leg. You realized that it might look like you'd lured them into a small dark cave for things that did not include energon. Luckily, Arcee's scanner, which was on her belt, let out a conformational beep.
"We should be right on top of it. We'll probably have to do a bit of mining though," the two-wheeler confirmed. You could see Jack sign in relief.
"Say," you remembered, but forgetting to think before you spoke, "didn't y'all already fill up in energon after raiding that mine?"
The femme's expression hardened. "How do you know about that?" You swore her servo was about to switch back to blaster mode.
"I just so happened to be stealing from the same mine you and your team had been raiding," you explained. You had raised your servos innocently for a few seconds again.
"None of us saw you."
"That's the idea. I don't want to be caught by anybody."
"How much did you manage to take?" Jack spoke up.
"Oh, about seven mine carts worth." Their eyes and optics widened as they gawked and exchanged looks once more.
"For just you?!" The boy said bewildered.
You thought about your reply for a moment. It would be more difficult for you to gain their trust if you lied. Aami was clearly scared of them knowing about her. If Arcee was protecting a human teenager who couldn't be older than seventeen, she probably wouldn't do anything against a ten-year-old of her own species. You decided to be vague so keep worry off of your child's processor.
"Well, me and my plus one," you replied.
"Who's your plus one?" Arcee interrogated.
"Just someone." That probably added a point towards your untrustworthiness, but you weren't about to betray your daughter for a date. "Anyways, if that's everything, I'll let you two have at it."
"Why'd you help me? Why'd you save Jack?" Arcee suddenly questioned. Her faceplates were stoic. Her optics held the same interrogating look, but with hints of genuine curiosity.
"I wanted to." You didn't really know how else to answer that. Even if you hadn't been interested in her, you were certain you still would've helped her and her friend out. You might be curious about her, but you wanted to know about Prime's team as a whole.
"That's it?" She seemed more confused now.
You shrugged. Your wings moved with your shoulders. "Uh, yeah, honestly. What more a reason does anyone need?" Maybe not your best reasoning, but you weren't quite sure how else to tell her without being weird (or at least, weirder and more awkward).
You gave them a small goodbye wave and jumped into the air. Gracefully transforming into your jet mode, you flew off. You still called for a ground bridge, just in case anyone may be trying to follow.
