Chapter 5

'I'm ready, Hideki!' you said self-confident in a provoking tone. 'Ready to face you, weird guy...!' and your lips formed to a challenging smirk. 'I can learn a lot from you, Hideki! And one thing I know now...It's never too early...!' you continued. 'I must not fall into anyone's trap. Neither in Hideki's, Kira's or L's... And I've to be prepared for anything could happen to me. I won't fail again, never...!' you promised yourself and were satisfied.
You smiled proudly and were ready...
Then you turned from the mirror and headed to the door...
'I'm coming, Hideki!' that was what you thought least...

Hideki's POV

She acted really weird and suspicious. And when I said my suspect, that she might investigate alone, she escaped.
She probably didn't want to show any feelings of her panic to me but I'm L, and no one can trick me!
For me, it's now clear, that she is investigating alone. In which context, I still don't know, but I will find out soon. It could be possible, that she got out of her investigating organization and started to search alone or... oh, she is coming!
I stopped thinking about her and continued eating my new piece of cake, that I just ordered while waiting for her to come back...

Narrator's POV

Hideki was still eating his cake. That was what you noticed when you came back. But the piece of cake he was eating was bigger and it looked like he just started to eat it. 'Hmm maybe he ordered a new one...' you thought when you arrived the table.
Hideki was about to put a bit in his mouth but stopped when he saw you coming. 'Ok, she didn't run away, but hey, she looks different, that when she left...' Hideki noticed.
"Sorry." he said as you sat down on your place. "It wasn't my intention to make you panic or loose your nerves." he excused coldly.

When he said that, you only remembered the last thing he said before you left him.

...maybe you don't belong to any investigation organization and investigate alone! That would explain your carelessness...

This sentence replied again and again in your mind and you realized that you revealed the truth...
Now he knows the truth about you. It's clear that he isn't dumb to not understand, that you are careless, cause you are investigating the Kira case ALONE...
'But hey... I'm not that careless, I only wasn't prepared for that!' you thought.
'But I still don't understand, how he came to the idea that I'm investigating alone. This only made me feel certain, that he is a very clever detective...' you wondered. '...or Kira, of course..!' you completed.

You lifted your head from the cake and found yourself in the next moment staring into Hideki's beautiful dark eyes, that were watching you the whole time. 'How can someone have soo dark beautiful eyes like him...?' you were dreaming, but as you noticed what you were doing you woke up. It was stupid to have such thoughts in this situation.

You took a sip of your coffee and didn't know how to start a new conversation with him. If you won't talk to Hideki, you would only fall in thoughts and forget your surrounding, and with Hideki in front of you, it's not the best idea...
But after getting no idea how to start a talk or about what you could talk you gave up and ended up in your thoughts again.
'Hmmmm, I've to get an idea how I can turn Hideki from the fact that I'm investigating alone. A good lie that sounds realistic enough would be great, but what can I say?' you asked yourself.

In only this short time, Hideki found out what changed in you...
When you came you looked more self-confident, than when you left. That means that you can build within a short time your self-confidence from new.
This is what made Hideki change his mind and try again to talk to you. You might not be such a weak person as he thought.

'I know she is hiding something and as long as I didn't find out what it is, I won't leave her. I know it's something important. And I also don't think longer, that I met the wrong person. I only need some more time to figure out who she really is. She seems to be stronger than I thought, and I know this only happened to her cause she didn't expect something like that...!' Hideki thought and bewildered about you only staring the whole time at him while being deep in thoughts.

But suddenly your face expression changed. The 'deep in thoughts' face turned into a 'surprised but still staring' face.
'Wait...' all of a sudden the reasons, that you were looking for popped up in your head. Within the twinkling of an eye, you remembered why exactly you preferred to hide your last name although it was only an alias...
Your lips formed a soft smirk and you were delighted about that happening.
Hideki was about to put a bite in his mouth but paused when he noticed you smirking softly. 'I'm really curious what will happen now. What is she thinking on the whole time? Does she have the suspicion that I'm L? No... that's impossible!' Hideki wondered and waited to see what you will do next.

You only leaned forwards on the table and couldn't hide your smirk any longer. For Hideki it seemed as a challenging smirk...

"I'm sure you are now a little bit confused about me" you started. "I only left you for a moment cause I needed a break.." you explained your escape.
"A break.." Hideki repeated in a low voice as if he said it to himself.
"Yeah, a break. You confused me and I got nervous...as you noticed..." you explained calmly. "It wasn't me at all, who was sitting the whole time in front of you!!!" you admitted still coldly.

'She changed completely...' Hideki ascertained, but the only thing he said was... "Sry...it wasn't my intention...". His cold voice made him sound like he wouldn't care about anything in the world.
'Seems to be yet again an interesting person. At the beginning, I wondered why I didn't get the feeling to leave her, but now I know, I only had to wait. And with some more time, I'll get to know her real personality. Let's see what is coming..!' Hideki thought while eating his cake.
"It's ok, I forgive you." You answered his excuse "But, I wanna continue the conversation about the Kira case!" you
requested.
"You would be able to control yourself. I see you really changed!" He noticed and you started the talk.
