"Everyone gets to the pack house immediately," Alpha Brian said through the mind link to everyone in the executive body of the pack. We quickly changed our route back the way we came and towards the pack house.
Everyone made it back to the pack house on time and took their representative seats. "We've decided that the coronation should be held today in the next few hours," Alpha Brian said to all of us.
What why?
"Why?" Jacob asked as he was just as confused as everyone else in the room. "Someone attacked me in the woods today," he said, his frustration showing. "Wait for what?" everyone immediately go up including me and started barking questions at him when he was trying to calm down. To be honest I'm just as surprised. I mean how did they get past our security? Our security is as tight as a nail. No one will be able to get past them all undetected.
"OK, that's enough!" Alpha Brian exclaimed and the room went quiet. "The fight's over but now we got a bigger issue. They want to stop Jacob from becoming Alpha," he said giving us time to process the information. "Where is the intruder now," Carl asked Alpha Brain. "I killed him," Alpha Brian said surprising all of us. He shouldn't have killed the intruder, we could've gotten some information out of him.
"Why?" I asked but Alpha Brian didn't get a chance to answer as Jacob interrupted him "Doesn't matter why. What matters is that there was an attack on the Alpha, our Alpha," he stood up and leaned on the table as he continued talking. "If they want to stop our coronation then that gives us all the more reason to have it, as soon as possible,"
"Jacob's right. We're gonna have this coronation and we're gonna have it the next 2 hours. Everyone get ready, this is not up for debate," Alpha Brian said and left with Jacob leaving no room for anyone to protest. I left with Uncle Ted to his house and Aunt Martha was already there with a rectangular box in her hand. I already know what was in it and to be honest, I am quite excited myself. I have been waiting for this opportunity for a long time. Uncle Ted told me how excited he felt when it was his turn to become the enforcer and how he still feels up to this day. After he told me the whole story I couldn't wait for my day to come.
And now it has. It may turn.
"How did you know?" I asked Aunt Martha with a smile on my face and she returned the smile with one of her own. "I mind-linked her and told her everything," Uncle Ted answered as he made his way over to Aunt Martha and placed his hand on her lower back. "My baby girl has grown up so fast," Aunt Martha said as she gave the box to Uncle Ted and made her way over to me and hugged me and I didn't hesitate to hug her back as this is the happiest day of my life. I felt a huge smile spread on my face as I felt another pair of arms around me.
"Now," Aunt Martha said as she pulled away and dried her tears. She held my hand with a smile that has not been erased yet and said, "Go upstairs and change. You have less a two hours to process everything," she said to me, and Uncle Ted handed me the box in my hand. I took it and he kissed me on the forehead then they hugged me again before I made my way upstairs into my old bedroom.
As I made it to my bedroom I closed the door and placed the box on my bed. After I did that I looked at it but I didn't open it. I know it seems weird but that's what I'm doing. I didn't open it because I know that after today I'm gonna be the Enforcer of the Midnight Moon pack. There is no doubt in my mind that I would be the Enforcer and that I will make a very good one. I don't want to open it yet until it's time.
"You nervous?" I heard a voice in my head say and it didn't take me long to figure out who it is.
"No," I answered him even though deep down I am but I didn't want him to know that. He let out a soft chuckle.
"I'm nervous too," was his reply. I swear that guy is getting too close to breaking my walls. "You have no reason to be," he sighs heavily at that statement and I can tell that he has doubts. I wanted to say more but what can I say? I'm not good at cheering people up. "I have to go now, my father needs me downstairs," he said and I shook my head but then I remembered that he can't see me. "Well then, see you in a few hours, Alpha,"
"I'm not an Alpha yet," he replied and I rolled my eyes at him. "You will be in less than two hours," I said and cut off the mind link between us. It is a rule that the future leaders of the pack are not allowed to see each other before the coronation. I don't know why they made that rule. I mean it's not like we're getting married or anything but it's there and I follow the rule. The Elders are the ones who will make the final decision as to who will be the future leaders of the packs as they will gather evidence from the past to determine whether or not you are to become a leader or not. So I get why Jacob is worried. I mean he lost his mate and became unstable and threatened to attack pack members if they even so much as bothered him. Yes, I've caught up on some of his histories and I got a pretty good understanding as to why he was nervous.
But Jacob has proven that he's changed and that he is willing to take on the responsibility of the Alpha position. I'm sure the Elders will see that from the past few weeks that he has arrived back to the pack that he has shown that he is more than capable to lead this pack, even without Ashley.
I looked at the box for a few more minutes thinking that after today, everything will change, everything will be different, and not because the pack leaders are been chosen later on but because I suddenly have this gut feeling that something is very wrong. That something is coming and it's much closer than we realize.
