Chapter 21: Unplanned

"I don't know what happened. All I know is that you're pregnant."

"No. I'm not pregnant. I can't be."

"Denial won't get you anywhere, Miss Schuyler."

I went back inside. Aaron was patiently waiting. I hugged him and sobbed into his chest.

"What's the matter? Are you alright, (Y/N)?"

"The nurse thinks I'm pregnant. I didn't know, I'm so sorry!"

Aaron hugs me back. "Hey, if you need help, I'm here for you.

Hamilton stepped into the tent. "(Y/N)?"

Burr and I released our hug and I turned to face Alex. "I'm here Mr. Hamilton."

"General Washington would like to see you."

"Am I being dismissed?.."

"I'm not sure. Come with me."

I nodded and took Hamilton's arm. He began walking me to Washington's office.

"Mr. Hamilton, I don't want to be sent home."

"I don't want you to be sent home either. I find comfort knowing that my wife's sister is here. I am also supposed to be Lauren's second dueling Lee and Burr tomorrow and I was hoping you could talk some sense into Burr."

"Wait, Burr is dueling? I swear, he'll be the death of me. If he wants to duel so be it but I highly disapprove."

Hamilton nodded. "Of course."

"And you shouldn't be dueling either, Alex. What would my sister say?"

Hamilton chuckled. "You got me there. Still, you know Lee. He needs to be put in his place."

"So if someone talks shit, you kill them?"

"Usually but not this time. Laurens is many thing but a killer isn't one of them... Unless it's a British soldier."

"That's true."

Washington opened the door. He was extremely tall and intimidating but he usually had a smile on his face but now he was very serious and burnt out.

"Welcome, Miss Schuyler."

"Good afternoon, General. You wished to see me?"

"Yes. You may leave, Mr. Hamilton."

Hamilton nodded as Washington shut the door behind us.

"I have been informed of your... Current situation.. I have no choice but to send you home. I don't want to risk your child's life."

"This isn't fair! I don't have to be out on the field! I can tend to soldiers that have been brought back to the medic tent! I can be a secretary!"

"Nothing will change my mind on this. You're going home and that's final."

"Of course, sir."

    I sighed and stepped outside. A lone carriage was sitting there waiting for me.

    What am I going to do now?

                           (Jade's POV)

    I glanced at the mailbox. Letters, party invitations, the usual. I picked them up and set them on the table.

    "James!"

    James walked over. "What are you yelling for?"

    "Can you sort the mail please?"

    James groaned and began separating the mail.

    Just as I began to leave, James spoke. "Uh, Jadie?"

   "Yeah?"

    "There's a letter for (Y/N) in here."

    I examined the seal. A huge grin spread across my face.

    "What are you waiting for, you old fool! Send it to her house!"

     James looked confused.

    "SEND IT!"

     "Alright, alright!"

    (Y/N) is going to be so happy when she gets back!
