Niklaus was beginning to wonder what being an Elemental entailed. Did each one have different powers? How did they gain control over them? Was there some sort of ceremony to unlock their full potential?
This made his thoughts zero in on Aella again...
The first thing I feel as I begin to regain consciousness is a mattress under my fingertips, and a warm towel on my creasing forehead.
I shuffle in place as I begin to feel my muscles awaken, and take in a deep breath as my eyes open. Next to me, is my sister Sera, and the very image makes my eyes widen.
No, not in surprise of seeing my long deceased sister again.
Mainly due to the earnest feeling of Dejavú coursing through my veins.
I notice my familiar corset strewn over a chair in the far right corner, most of its pale hue dyed with a moist crimson.
"Good, you're up!"
.
I am wearily looking over at my sister, sitting down next to her as I look over her features.
Same fiery hair with clear pools as orbs staring back at me.
"Aren't you supposed to be dead?" I mutter, playing with the hem of my white nightgown.
"Geez. Stealth mode on or something?" Sera scoffs, "I remember you being a little more direct than that."
I turn to glare at her but my eyes soften as I catch her petite figure again. She's here.
She's right in front of me.
"I have passed on, as you can probably still recollect," she says with haute attitude, "but just because I now belong to the other side does not mean that I am bound to the side lines."
I chuckle at that.
Same fiery personality.
"Ae." Seraphine whispered, taking my pale hands in hers, "You are in your mind."
I gasped. "You mean to tell me I am stuck in my brain?"
"More or less," Sera nodded, and continued to say, "after you were attacked your mind went into survival mode and essentially locked itself. You've been in this state for nearly a day."
I huff in annoyance, "Why am I still here in this purgatory then?! We heal quick."
My sister clicked her tongue, "Ah, Ah! You know that this is not equivalent when it comes to emotional pain or disarray, young one."
I roll my eyes, "I'm only like a few decades younger, and I am not depressed!"
"No," Sera says softly, "You are worried."
I raise the hand that she doesn't have clutched in her grasp and rub my temple exasperatedly.
"How do I free myself off this prison?"
It was her turn to scoff, "That's how much you missed my company?"
I stare at her for a minute in silence, but it only took that much for us to burst out in laughter like the little preteens we were at heart. I missed this.
"You know I have to go back. You know our family's legacy depends on it." I say on a more serious note.
"Oh yes," Sera says. "Our birthright."
I place my head on her left shoulder, and sigh.
"I've missed you."
My sister raked her fingers through my blonde locks as she hummed in agreement.
"You know I can't help but ask; what's with the new hair do?"
.................
