Selena's clear shout of pain rips through me with the power of a sword and I am temporarily rendered immobile, anger shooting through me like fiery tingles that diminish just as quickly. I am left empty once again and her screams do nothing but rebound off my cold skin, they sound painful and without seeing it, I know it is starting; the beginning of our end.
Mady's gleaming face appears between the bars of my cell and my stomach turns at realisation and pain but I feel nauseous thinking about breaking what I have too, my body aches subconsciously and I know that I look deranged. The pink of my hair gone and leaving only the white blond to be seen underneath; it must be matted by now and my face covered in dirt and blood.
My outfit is ripped, the white top hanging loosely at the bottom covered in now dry blood, I should be repulsed but I can't be and instead just continue to stare blankly at the woman who destroyed not only me but the love I was capable of holding for the people I swore not to harm.
Were promises meant to be broken or is it just my poor luck that has led me to this place? I have faced many adversities and survived the attacks of many men, but it seems Evelyn is stronger than I will ever be capable of being. There's no vibrant haze that protected me from the death that I so wished to avoid, nothing to thrust me back into the abyss of unconsciousness because I am the haze, it settled throughout my veins unmoving. Turning crystal blue eyes magenta and a kind heart to a murderous one, forever stained with blood.
The lock to the cell jolts me first and then the harsh grip around each wrist as she unlocks each shackle that kept me in place. "What did you do to me?" I say, my voice hollow and my throat raw; craving something sustaining.
"Sedated, it paralyses you and if you do not comply, I will do it until that stupid brain of yours adapts to compliance" she growls obviously still upset about the slaughtering of thirty-seven of her traitorous servants.
"Then where are we going master?" I ask, bored sarcasm flowing freely through my words.
"A play date with your friends, or should I say; ex-lovers" she sneers.
Her grip on me is tight and cold, although I have no plan of attempted escape, but she doesn't trust me, which is just as well because I do not trust her. Rhydian's scent fills me deliciously and I am torn between killing and kissing his locked away body, my eyes linger on him as we pass.
He looks exhausted and sad, covered in blood and bruises that aren't healing and I suspect that torture and lack of blood will do that to a vampire, Kyle is alone in his cell and he is contorted in pain as guards wrestle down his struggling body. Selena is not with him and god knows how long it has been, without her, they will both fall apart, it will weaken their bond dramatically and that is why I am here. To tear apart the remainder of their connection.
Selena looks wild and vicious as guards pull her in front of us, she is writhing painfully against their hold, trying desperately to get to Kyle even with no chance, she still fights. Her face is tear stained and covered in streaks of blood. I wonder if I too look as wild and unlike myself, I know that my hands and forearms are covered in dried blood, but I don't feel as she does, I can't feel the destruction of my mate bond. For which I am glad because even without Evelyn I will not handle it, I cannot, he is as much mine as he is hers.
We enter a bland ballroom, still stripped of the chandeliers and drapes that signified Rhydian's ownership. It's gone as is his peaceful reign.
She lets go of me as I stand in the middle of the room, facing two cylindrical bared chambers, they stand five meters apart and I watch as they trap Selena in there, her screams of anguish echoing around the empty room.
