The hours always went by fast when I was working with the animals, and other than taking a lunch break to eat and play with my pets I kept fairly busy, all day long. Then came the dreaded Spartan lock up once more, just like the previous day he not only waited by the car he jumped right into the backseat and whined at me. "Ugh, I can't do it!" I howled at Gavin and a very confused Jason. "Do what?" He puzzled. "He's doing the eyes, and he just looks so pitiful, I can't put him back in the cage when he knows I don't want him in there in the first place! It broke my heart the last time, I won't do that to him again." I groaned out as I sniffled towards the two boys who looked uncertain on what to do.
"But Sid the cage is his home isn't it?" Jason tried to reason and I scolded at him. "No that cage is an evil trap that nobody should ever be subjected to, his HOME is with ME. Just look at him he's been good all day, and he's well behaved, and he follows my commands. Don't you think he deserves to be free of his prison?" I pleaded for mercy and Jason cracked as he looked to Gavin. "He is kind of good with her and the other two Gav." Jason murmured lightly.
"No. Absolutely not, he is not coming home with us Sidney, and don't encourage this Jay!" Gavin growled, I crossed my arms defiantly. "Well I'm not putting him back in the cage, so please be my guest." I snapped back as I gestured Gavin to the car. He stomped forward and reached in only to have Spartan's deep snarl make him dodge back from him uncertainly. Gavin looked to us for help but I wasn't budging and not even Jason was dumb enough to try dragging the huge wolf dog out of an enclosed space.
"Fine! He can ride home with us, but if you can't get all the others to agree to him staying, then we bring him back here and you lock him up, got it!" Gavin stated and I grinned at him as I wrapped my arms around him in a thankful hug that shocked both boys. "Yes yes yes, thank you!" I cheered as I practically tackled Spartan in the backseat with cuddles, not even minding the fact that I would be squished by three huge canines on the way back now. "My boys, my sweet boys just you wait Spartan bud, your gonna love it there." I cooed to their wagging tails smacking me happily in their joyful excitement. The boys climbed into the front seats as we headed back to the house, this was certainly going to be an intriguing introduction.
Gavin
I felt awed and stunned and just way too freaking happy, Sidney had willingly hugged me, she was so happy and excited that it had my wolf crooning. If I had known caving would make her so happy that she would have a goofy grin on her face all the way home, I would have done it a lot quicker no matter the consequences. I had no idea how the others would act, but the likelihood of her convincing all of them to let the wolf mutt stay was low to none, so I wasn't too worried about it. When we pulled up to the house Sidney popped open one of the back doors to release the hounds, Tyson and Ollie were quick to rush out to check the area, but Spartan hung back by Sid's side. I was surprised that he laid his weight against her legs as he happily stood at her side and watched the other two running about, Sidney scratched lazily at his ears as they stood there together.
"It's not home bud but it's as good as it gets for right now." Sidney's whisper had my chest clenching slightly, she had made it perfectly clear, she felt like she didn't belong here. "Remember EVERYONE has to agree." I grunted as she nodded and silently headed up the porch as the other two dogs rushed to follow her. The moment we strolled inside the living room where the others were, the wolf dogs hackles raised as he growled low in his throat, drawing all attention to him. "Um, who invited the maneater?" Tucker whispered softly as he eyed him uncertainly.
"I did and he's staying with me, if anyone objects I will be sleeping at the sanctuary with him tonight." Sidney's ultimatum had me wincing. She was a crafty one, if they didn't agree she wouldn't give them any other choice that didn't put her own safety in danger. There was silence as everyone contemplated her words before turning to Bowen for answer, I was pleading with him to figure out a way to change her mind. "I suppose we can all agree to let him stay with a few conditions, and if Simon can agree to it." Bowen rumbled out causing Sid to turn a pleading puppy dog look on the doc. "I don't mind as long as he behaves himself." Simon sighed as the she wolf beamed in triumph.
"He will, now what conditions are we talking?" She turned back to Bowen intently as she lowered her hand to the top of Spartan's head, silencing him immediately. "First, you will be solely responsible for him, and second if he poses a threat or is too much trouble he will go back to the sanctuary, and you will let him." Bowen muttered as she puzzled over his words thoughtfully. "I guess I can agree to that IF I get to teach and train him my own way without interference, if you interfere your conditions are moot." She challenged back as they locked eyes and stared each other down, I couldn't help gaping as Bowen actually let a smile cross his lips and he nodded back to her.
"Very well then, I believe we have a deal." Bowen chuckled back at her leaving us all a bit stunned as she flashed her teeth at him in a brilliant grin before kneeling as she flung her arms around the giant wolf mutt. "You hear that bud you can stay, and I'm never going to let anyone take you away from me, no one will ever hurt you, ever again." She growled softly into his scruff before bouncing back to her feet with a nod to all of us. "We'll see you at dinner, now come on big guy let's show you around." She cooed to her new little pet as she led the way up the stairs with all three mutts following her. "Si you were the one guy I was counting on to say no!" I groaned out on a hiss.
"He makes her happy, and he's a part of her pack, I couldn't separate them and have her hate me." Simon defended. "You know I'm kind of jealous of that d**n mutt." Micah huffed as he stared at the stairs they had disappeared up. "She's so protective and caring of the things she loves, it's hard not wanting her to look at us like she looks at those beasts." Beck stated with a nod. "Any luck on contacting the pack your dad mentioned?" Fletcher directed the question to Bowen.
"I got in contact with their alpha an hour ago and he agreed to our visit, now we just have to get Sidney to pack a bag to leave tomorrow afternoon with all of us. My parents will be staying here while we are gone to help look after the place and patrol the borders. She believes we are going there to train, and that is part of the reason, but she doesn't know the other part, and we will keep it that way, understood?" His tone was coated in an order, I automatically bowed my head in submission before nodding to him. "She's not gonna like it, but it's better than having her kill us or refusing to go in the first place." Colton sighed with a shake of his head.
"So whose up for telling her she has to leave the mutts and head to Montana with us tomorrow afternoon?" Emmett chuckled as we all shared a silent look as close to a grimace as possible, until loud curses broke our silence. "DO NOT EAT THE CAT!" Sidney's loud snarl was followed by a yelp of submission as a very puffed up Sassy hurried down the stairs and into the living room. It was quiet for a moment more until chuckles broke out through all of us as the cat hopped up on the couch and started to groom herself like nothing had happened and her fur wasn't standing on end. "Not it." I snorted with a playful salute and I wasn't the only one, nobody wanted to incur C.G's wrath anytime soon.
