Chapter 12 : you're dating a genius

Flaca continues her voice always quiet, her leg was bouncing up and down uncontrollably and she wasn't even aware of it

"It's none of your business how many eyes she got on her and we'll make sure that self esteem buries itself even deeper, just to be sure. We're watching you skinny, one move on her and you're dead, your choice if you want to take that metaphorically or literally"

He threatens making Flaca's stomach turn into a knot

"She's not my type ok? She's all yours. I don't see her like that"

She lies to make sure Keith buys it

"Good, don't forget my assignment"

He says

"Well I need the title.."

She says letting out a silent breath of relief seeing that he had changed subject

"Oh you wanna be a smartass with me?"

"No but I can't write the assignment if I don't have the title, that's all"

Flaca says her eyebrows furrowed thinking how can a human be this stupid

"Get it from Maritza since you're so close with her"

He says sarcastically

"Ok"

Flaca simply replies not wanting to get into an argument with him, Keith hangs up the phone call leaving Flaca staring st her phone to make sure that he had actually hung up

"God I hope you get caught"

Flaca says

"Can I borrow your laptop? And the title please?"

Flaca says looking at Maritza with sad tired eyes the young woman was already shaking her head no

"You're not doing his work"

Flaca scoffs loudly

"Ok I'm like the hugest nerd in there but I ain't stupid. I don't make them, I find them on the internet by unknown people and copy them to a word document and change some words, so if they ever do something immensely bad to me like with Lucas or my abuela or something, well they won't step inside the school again"

Flaca says getting up with a small smile on her face

"Damn you are dating a genius"

Maritza's mother says

"No, no I'm fucking not. Why don't you out them out now?"

Maritza says obviously upset

"Because we just started the semester.. they'll come back and obviously will know what happened"

Flaca reasons

"Send the evidence unknown, slide and envelope under the door"

Maritza says quickly finding a solution

"Babe I wrote the assignments they'll know I set them up"

Flaca responds making Maritza curse under her breath

"As long as they don't touch my family or you, they can kill me for all I care"

Flaca says putting the chair under the table gently

"Shut the fuck up"

Maritza responds to Flaca's comment, the tall woman walked towards Maritza and left a quick peck in her forehead while smiling, then she took Lucas from her arms and left a kiss on his head
