"It'll be okay, food will help your anxiety.", he mumbled to himself.

Holding the door open for you like he always did, he shook away the secret for now, focusing on the fact that he had to order. He strode to the counter, ordering what he always ordered whenever he came here, and reached for his wallet.

You stopped him.

"I'll pay for it sweetie. Don't worry.", you said, pulling out your own wallet.

He smiled at you, walking to the fountains with his cup. Upon reaching the fountain, he set his cup down, taking a moment to breathe. Shakily filling his cup, he looked back at you. He stood around the fountains, too nervous to actually confront you now. He began zoning out, trying to figure out what words would fit absolutely best, as you deserved the best above all others.

Having procured the order, you tapped Alfred on the shoulder.

"Hey, I've got the food."

He opened his eyes, startled. You frowned with concern.

"C'mon, let's sit down."

You both chose a window seat closest to the corner of the establishment. Taking a deep breath, he started on his meal. You pulled the book he picked out for you out of your bag, opening it up and beginning to read it.

He was desperately hoping you'd forgotten the secret already, trying to finish as fast as he could, wanting to leave, immediately. Unfortunately, the odds were not in his favor.

Leaning your cheek on one of your hands, you said, "So what was the secret you wanted to tell me?"

He nearly fucking choked. Wiping his face, he cleared his throat.

"I really don't think it's appropriate I mean-"

"Alfred, do you think the setting actually matters? Just tell me."

He set his Big Mac down and looked at you. You set the book down and met his eyes.

"Y-you know... I really love the fact that you drove me around, brought me here, payed for my meal... Thank you."

"Do you not want to tell me the secret?", you asked, cocking your head to the side.

He wanted to say it. So bad. But it was as if there were some barrier in his throat, preventing him from speaking at all. He was maintaining eye contact with you just fine, he was simply rendered speechless.

"You don't have to look at me if it's making you nervous."

He looked down, now placing his elbow on the table, looking down at his fries.

"Here's the thing... It's not just that I love what you've done for me today, it's also that I love the fact that I'm so privileged to actually have a friend like you."

He started scooting the fries around with his finger.

"But that's not even the half of it (Y/N)..."

Clearing his throat, he shifted and picked a fry up, breaking it in half.

"I love it when we talk. It makes my days and my nights, just to have someone that I can agree on the dumbest of topics with. I've always felt that I can tell you anything."

Squishing the fry, he smeared it nonchalantly on the tray.

"I feel so bad though. Even if I can tell you anything, I haven't told you everything, which is, well, what I'm about to do."

Finally making eye contact with you, his face burning hot and deadpan for once, he extended his arm, gingerly touching your hand.

"I've been in love with you since the day I was introduced to you. It's only been a year since we met, but it feels like you've always been here. In fact...", he checked his phone, "Today marks a whole year we've known each other. Go figure."

Now it was your turn to be speechless.

"It's gonna sound weird but... I was so happy that I even marked my calendar so I could celebrate the day I met you. I guess you could say it's my favorite holiday huh?"

You couldn't believe him. You couldn't. He was right though. It had only been a year, but you just felt so natural with him. You smiled at him.

"You know Alfred, you're never gonna believe this, but I happen to love you more."

Instead of arguing for his love like you expected him to, he broke down into a bunch of giggles. He was absolutely beaming. Covering his mouth, his eyes were darting to you and all around and back to you again. Suddenly, he started crying.

"Alfred?"

"I'm just so happy!", he cried, grabbing a tissue.

You stood up, smiling at him.

"The sun's going down kiddo. I think we should go home."

"Yeah, me too."

And so, your relationship with Alfred blossomed to the point of moving in together and a fair amount of fluffy PDA. To make up for all the days that he was scared to say "I love you", he began saying it everyday, always following it with something else that was just as sweet. You both maintained a balance between going out to eat and just staying home and actually cooking, never letting Arthur come over and touch anything in the kitchen. You both also made impulsive purchases together, such as matching sweaters and a banana shaped pillow.

Time seemed to go by so quickly, because soon enough, he was holding your hand, walking hastily into the same McDonald's he confessed in.

"Everyone! Clear out! This hero has gotta get married to the most beautiful person out of all of you!"

The both of you stood there, you, a giggling mess, just as he was that day, ecstatic that you were finally doing this.

Francis stood before the both of you, a camera in his hand, recording as you said your vows, having the McDonald's manager officiate your marriage. When it came time to exchange rings, Alfred pulled the ring for you out of his chest pocket. He slipped it onto your hand, excitedly shaking.

"You may now kiss the bride.", the manager announced.

Alfred wasted no time pulling you into a tender kiss. He cupped your cheeks as you draped your arms over his shoulders. The people which were so blessed to be in the McDonald's at the time the both of you chose to wed were clapping for the both of you, albeit confused, they were clapping.

The ceremony reached its end, the both of you happily made your way to the airport for your honeymoon to begin.

"Hey baby?"

"What's up wifey?", Alfred responded, taking more than enough pride in your marriage.

"When it came time to exchange rings, why did you already have it in your suit pocket?"

"That's easy! I wanted to keep it as close to my heart as possible! Besides, that's where you are for me anyway. You and McDonald's both, except I'm lovin' you a lot more. Forever."
