Ch 12 The Calm Before a Storm

Y/N: Interesting but why now?

Ozpin: As I've said before there was some choices but the circumstances made it to Sarah's favor.

Qrow: We can fill you on the details once we know that you're with us. For now, all you need to know is that one of the Maidens has been attacked. And for the first time in history, part of her power was stolen.

Y/N: You mean Cinder.

Ironwood: Unfortunately yes.

A humming of electricity is heard as the group comes to their destination at the end of the hallway: A large machine with lit screens hooked up to two rectangular pods, one of which is upright to show through the glass window a young girl with a burn scar over her left eye and across her face.

Ironwood: We're using state of the art Atlas technology to keep her stable. But there is a lot about this situation that is... unprecedented.

Y/N: Based on the information you mentioned I'm assuming that her deaths means that the powers will seek a new host.

Qrow: He's smart.

Y/N: I'm sure if you were deciding between Sarah and Pyrrha you must have put a lot of research into her capabilities. That means you had to go through me as well and I'm sure you know what we do based on our first contact.

Ozpin: Exactly, but I must say the decision was a hard one at that. After all seeing how there is essentially no information on the two of you and had to be worked on the ground up.

Goodwitch: Such as that drone you destroyed at the docs. Also I must add that our group was founded in order to protect both mankind and the Maidens. Those hungry for power hunted them with the hope of inheriting their strength.

Qrow: (finishing his drink) And as you can imagine, the ones that succeeded weren't exactly the ones you'd want to have this unimaginable power.

Ozpin: (stepping towards Y/N) Given Amber's condition, she won't be able to inherit her power naturally. However, General Ironwood believes he has a solution.

Ironwood: For the past few years, Atlas has been studying Aura from a more scientific standpoint; how it works, what's it made of, how it can be used. We've made... significant strides. And we believe we've found a way to capture it.

Y/N: Ahh that girl named, Penny. Kinda odd seeing what she did that night on the docs.

Ironwood: These are desperate times. We can't transfer Amber's power to her, but we can give Sarah what those powers are bound to her aura.

Ozpin: Her life would become intertwined with Sarah's. The question is...

Y/N: Yes, let's do it. Sarah and I signed up to protect our nation in the case that society falls. The only difference between this is that there are greater odds at stake.

Ironwood: We took the liberty of getting the systems up online. When you gave your answer to Ozpin we checked Sarah out of the infirmary and she is hooked up. That's why we were late.

He reveals the second pod with Sarah hooked up on the machines. The machines revving up to life as it began to ready the process.

Y/N: Sarah...

Ozpin: The choice was yours son. Now if you will. He says revealing a button.

Y/N: Hehehe, well you know the phrase, it's now or never.

Y/N pushes the button. The machines began working on transferring the power to Sarah. As the machines did it's work a bright light encase the room until it dimmed down to reveal the process worked.

Ozpin: Did it work?!

Ironwood: According to the machines it did but Sarah will need some rest before she wakes.

Y/N: (by now Y/N has tears of joy) Thank you, all of you. (he walks to Amber who is now dead) Especially you Amber, we will make sure your fight was not in vain.

Qrow: Remember not to mention this to anyone.

Ironwood: And when the time comes we will finally take our fight to the enemy.

Ozpin: Indeed, I expect our fight against Salem's forces will happen sooner than later. I'm sure Cinder felt that the other half of the Fall Maiden's Power went to a new host.

Y/N: Well seeing how they infiltrated Beacon it looks like they may be taking the fight to us when we're at our most vulnerable.

Glynda: Now we need to transport Sarah back to the infirmary. Just know Y/N we will be keeping an extra close eye on you two. When she wakes up be sure to tell us to explain the situation at hand.

Y/N: Yeah, I'll do that.

With that they go back through the elevator and go to put Sarah back in the infirmary. Y/N just wonders how Sarah will take the news when she wakes up.
