"Well if you ever need my help, I'd be glad to help you find a job Ana."
I gave him a thankful smile. "Thank you."
My phone went off and as I turned it over the screen lit up and it was a message from Alex. "It's from Alex," I say.
"Why's he texting you?"
I sighed. "It's a long long story."
The message from Alex said that we needed to talk.
"Do you want to go now?"
I shook my head. "Not yet." I just wanted to enjoy this for a little longer before all of this. I didn't even know what Alex wanted to talk about but I just know that it would be a lot.
I text Alex back and tell him to pick me up from here in an hour.
"What's going on?" Grayson asked.
"I honestly don't know myself," I shrugged. "Alex is going to pick me up in an hour."
"We'll I guess you'll find out soon enough what's going on."
I nodded. "Hey look you were right, I can't finish my food." I tried to change the subject.
Grayson just laughed. "You lose. Pay up."
"Fine, I guess I'll pay for your food too," I teased.
"No I didn't mean pay for my food."
I frowned. "Grayson if you can't tell I'm not rich."
He just smiled and shook his head. "I don't want your money."
I arched a brow at him. "Then what...?"
He leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms. "Hmmmm you have to accompany me to Alex's wedding."
I gasped at him. "Are you trying to deliberately hurt me Grayson?"
"No! I would never. I just want someone there with me so I don't die of boredom."
"Boredom? You do realize this is your BROTHER'S life changing event right?"
He shrugged. "Yeah but it'll still be boring."
"Don't you have a girlfriend who will go with you?" I laughed.
"That's a big step."
"So you do have a girlfriend?" I asked smiling.
"Well not technically my girlfriend. She's a girl and she's my friend right now."
I nodded understanding. "It would be awkward as hell if I went. Ainsley definitely wouldn't like it." Plus I didn't want to see the man who broke me marry someone else. Who knows if they'll even get married now. Hmmm I doubt they'll get married now.
"Fine, I'll come up with something else," Grayson stated.
"Actually, I'll go with you," I said. A wedding probably won't happen now.
"Why the change of heart?"
"I lost the bet so I have to."
"Fair enough."
For the next hour, Grayson and I just enjoyed each other's company. It was nice.
My phone buzzed and it was Alex. "I have to go."
"I walk out with you," Grayson stood up.
Suddenly my heart started beating faster. My palms were starting to feel balmy. As we walked outside I saw Alex leaning on his car with his arms crossed. Our eyes locked and he looked stressed. I watched as Grayson headed over to him and gave him a short hug.
"Take good care of her," I heard Grayson say.
I walked to them and Grayson pulled me into an embrace.
"Call me if you need anything Ana."
"Thank you."
Grayson left us and now it was just me and Alex. Let's get the party started. Alex opened the door for me without saying a word. We drove off into the night. Alex was speeding and I could tell he was gripping the wheel tightly.
"Alex slow down." I look over and his face was like stone. Alex didn't reply nor did he slow down. "Alex." Still no reply. I boldly grab his hand and place it in mine. "Calm down."
"I'm trying."
"Where are going?" I ask and remove my hand from his. He instantly grabs my hand and places it back in his.
"My office."
My stomach was in knots. Was it wrong that I felt happy just to be here with Alex right now?
