36. Let Truth Set You Free

She couldn't stop dreaming of him.  It was like he was haunting her.  It made matters worse. Her weight loss from lack of an appetite was noticeable and she became more distant from everyone. 

After Janet left, she didn't have much contact with Jasmine.  She didn't want to talk to anyone that reminded her of him anymore. Jasmine hoped Janet understood why she couldn't pick up the phone right now. Jasmine just needed time.

Michael and Lisa got into a big argument after their public kiss on the live MTV awards show.  She said that he used her and she told him she didn't want to do it.  He tried to reason with her and told her it would be the 'kiss of the century' but she didn't want to hear it.  She went back to her home in the Hidden Hills and he went to Neverland alone while she stayed mad at him for several days.

While he was home, his body guard told him he had some mail from Jasmine.  Michael was surprised to hear her name.  He thanked his guard and went to his bedroom to read it in peace.  He sat down on his bed and leaned on the headboard.  There were two 8x10 yellow envelopes. One said 'don't read' and the other said 'read first.'  He opened the 'read first' and started reading.

Dear Michael,

I finally found the strength to write you this letter.  Actually, thank you for the idea...I should've done this in the first place.  I want to first off say I love you and thank you for everything you've ever done for me.  You taught me so many things in life.  You're truly an amazing man and I hope you can one day give yourself some real credit for it. 

Well...I don't know if I start by saying how much I hate you right now for marrying a woman you told me you had no interest in or if I should tell you why I left. I guess I should tell you why I left since it's the most important thing because if I would've told you a long time ago, you wouldn't be with her.  We'd be married by now and I would be pregnant with our ------ second child.  I don't know how to put it.  This is what really happened.

Michael closed his eyes tight as he saw she crossed out 'first' child.  He sadly continued reading.

Remember our Bahamas vacation?  When we made love just about the whole seven days? Well at some point in time during our escapade we conceived.  Then months later while we were in Taiwan I found out.  I don't know how I was three months pregnant and didn't know it.  I hate myself for it.  Your mom made me take a pregnancy test after I told her my symptoms.  When it came up positive I was in denial because I couldn't remember doing anything after the vacation and I knew I wasn't three months pregnant and just finding out.  I told your mom not to tell you and she promised me she wouldn't so don't be mad at her please.  I didn't want to tell you because I knew if I really was pregnant that something could be wrong because I was having all these crazy pains.  Then when we were in Japan, I had a lot of cramping in my stomach.  That's when I ran away and you ran after me and you were yelling at me when I locked myself in the bathroom.  You sometimes don't have the best memory so I'm trying to help you remember. You yelled at me and did the show without me that night.  Anyways, when I was in the bathroom I noticed I was spotting.  So when we went to Moscow I called my doctor and he said if I wasn't going to let your doctors check me out, for me to go to him as soon as possible. Then I woke up that morning of the show and noticed my stomach.  I wasn't showing at first because I was carrying the baby in my back and I guess that's why I had back pains. I still don't know but I had a small bump that morning and it freaked me out. I wore one of your shirts so you wouldn't notice and then I left when you went to do the show.  I'm really sorry.  I didn't tell you because I didn't want to worry you.  You had enough going on. I went to the doctors as soon as I got home. He did a whole bunch of tests including an ultrasound and I was indeed three months pregnant.  The baby was still alive and I saw it on the monitor and heard its heartbeat and started crying.  The heart rate was low though and I knew something was wrong.  But you can open the other envelope now.  It's my proof, just in case you don't believe me for some reason. I was going to give you the copy of it but I decided to give you the original.  Please don't lose it.  If you don't want it, mail it back.
