"...And this the bridge. This extends into a periscope," Jay explained, jumping over to the long ceiling telescope and peering through the holes. "This tells what's going on in Ninjago. And this..." He walked over to a strange machine, "If a Serpentine's not giving us the answer we want, and we're late up night-"
"A neuro apparatus to read their minds?" Edna cut in, eyes shining.
"An audio appliance to make them talk?" Ed piped up, raising his hand. Jay smirked.
"No. A cappuccino machine." Flipping a switch and skipping a cup under the faucet, the holy liquid fell into the cup. He gave his parents a cocky look.
"Ha ha, amazing, son!" Ed beamed with his wife ah the blue ninja. "We're so proud of you."
"Why don't you tell them about the button?" Cole asked, gesturing at said mechanic.
"Heh heh, because it's not ready yet," Jay laughed between gritted teeth before glaring at the earth ninja.
"Ooh, what's the button?"
"He's working on a special defense system," Zane responded to Edna, joining them in the bridge.
Kai smirked, agreeing, "Something every ninja headquarters needs."
"Oh, really?" Jay's father questioned, inching towards the button with curious eyes. "What does it do? Can I help?"
Jay pushed his father back a little, protecting the button. "No, it's OK. I don't need your help, Dad. Let's just leave it alone." He looked at his wrist at an invisible watch. "Hey, look at the time. Don't you need to get back before it gets dark? I told you, there's dangerous Serpentine out there."
Pushing his father out the door, the latter sighed, "Uh, I suppose we could get back."
The other ninja came over to see the parents off. "Edna, it was a pleasure hearing about Jay's first potty time," Cole sniggered.
"Oh, if you thought that was good, wait until you hear the story about the time I caught him kissing his pillow," Edna squealed, embarrassing Jay further. It was the most embarrassing day of his life.
"Snakes, Ma. Snakes!"
"OK, we're going, we're going," The mother laughed, turning to leave.
Outside the Bounty, the couple climbed into their handmade car and started the engine. The sunset was quite lovely. "So you promise to come to the junkyard to visit your mother and father?" Edna called.
"Yes, I promise! But only if you leave. I don't want you to get hurt. It's getting dark," Jay said, his tone changing multiple times during his speech. "Uh, your headlights are working, right?"
The car hesitated for a few moments before two large orbs burst into yellow-white light. Everyone covered their eyes as the headlights burned their eyes. "Heh, like 'em? I used a little extra juice," Ed laughed, deactivating the lights. "Yep. Bye, son! I couldn't be more proud!"
He pulled out and started to drive away. Before they were too far, Edna shouted, "And bring Nya with you, will ya? I can see why you like her!"
"Mom," Jay hissed through clenched teeth. But they were much too far away to hear him.
"Now that they have left, maybe Jay can teach us the art of kissing pillows," Sensei Wu snickered.
The ninja threw his hands up the air, exasperated. Everyone could only laugh as he went back into the Bounty.
