"What?" The woman asked, a bit shocked at Sherlock's question. "I-I suppose so." She finally said, before buzzing the three of you in.
"Wow, Sherlock. I believe the regular folk might say you deserve a Grammy for that performance." You stated, thinking back to his 'performance' as the three of you made your way up to the woman's flat.
"What?" Sherlock furrowed his eyebrows at you.
"I think you mean an Oscar, Y/n." John stated.
"There's a difference?" You looked to John, who was shaking his head at you. You didn't know about all that media stuff.
"Uh, okay. Well, the two of you can wait outside Eddie's flat while I go up to let the two of you in." Sherlock got back to the case as John was just giving you a look that wondered how you were so smart, yet didn't know the difference between a Grammy and an Oscar.
"Um, no way, Sherlock. I'm coming with you. You already got one head start on this case, you can't have another!" You fought. It wouldn't be fair if Sherlock got another early start without you. You refused to let it happen.
Sherlock sighed, "Fine, but John waits outside Van Coon's."
"That's what was going to happen anyway." You told Sherlock, without even letting John get a word in. So, John was stuck waiting for you and Sherlock as the two of you went up to the woman's flat.
The woman was very sweet to you and Sherlock, and immediately led the two of you back to her balcony without any questions. Just your kind of person.
Sherlock studied the balcony and looked around at Van Coon's below. He started to hoist himself down before you grabbed his coat, yanking him back. He studied you, waiting for an explanation.
"I get to go first since you had more time at the bank!" Sherlock didn't complain, but gripped your hands tightly in his as he lowered you down onto Eddie's balcony. You looked down below as your feet dangled in midair and the only thing keeping you from falling was Sherlock. You looked up at him and in that moment, completely trusting him with your life. If you'd been dangling off the edge of a building that didn't have a balcony below your feet, you knew you could count on Sherlock to help you back up. As suddenly as the thought came, it disappeared as you leapt onto the balcony.
You glanced around, leaving Sherlock behind as you tested the door handle. You found the door was unlocked and pushed it open to investigate the flat. You heard Sherlock plop onto the ground behind you as you started searching around the house. You looked into a couple rooms, not seeing anything that particularly irked your curiosity. The flat was pretty nice, it had expensive looking furniture and it was semi-clean. It was at least a lot cleaner than Sherlock's flat.
A loud buzz rang throughout the flat as John pressed the talking intercom outside the flat's door. "Sherlock, Y/N, are you guys okay?" Neither of you replied, as your full interest was in this flat at the moment. "Yeah, anytime you guys feel like letting me in." John's voice later rang out.
You finally found a door and went to open it, but found it was locked. You pressed your shoulder to the side of it, taking a deep breath, before you rammed into it causing it to break in. It was a weak door, after all.
When you stepped in, your eyes were immediately met with Eddie Van Coon's body sprawled out across his bed with a gunshot wound to his right temple. A gun thrown carelessly by his side. You stopped in your tracks, you had not been expecting this...
"Um... Sherlock?" You called out, staring at the body with a bit of panic in your voice. You're not sure why, but seeing Eddie was giving you a strange feeling in your stomach, and your face felt clammy and cold. You worked with bodies everyday, but somehow this was different.
